  • FWIW, around here Oklahoma Christian is called "OC". "OCU" generally refers to Oklahoma City University.

Our next opponent is a familiar one, OCU. They are also peaking at the right time and will be tough to beat. They will play in Canyon starting on Thursday.

For now. It's very, very dry and the winds have been 20-30 everyday. Cooler weather coming up later this week.

        • WT manages to get by OC, 6-5 in a really good game! WT hit 4-5 single home runs, which is weird.

However the streaming quality was unreliable, and the live stats died early in the game.

Up to 2 games tomorrow will decide who goes to the World Series.

5 single run HRs. 111 HRs for the season, 58 games. And yes, uncharacteristically, the stream sucked.

            • WT defeats OC 3-0 in a weather delayed game, that started yesterday and just now finished. Oklahoma Christian is an EXCELLENT team! They have some really fine athletes. I was very impressed by their pitchers. Yesterday WT was making a rapid comeback from being down 8-1 until a hard hit was caught by the pitcher who threw to third for a double play.

WT has a habit of late inning comebacks this year once the opposing pitcher tires. I thought that might work against them since they had 2 less innings to work with, but the team scored all 3 runs in the top of the 7th.

I really hate the NCAA rules about who is designated the home team. It's a coin flip before each game! In my mind, if you get to play at home during the playoffs the rules should be the same as any other home game. In this series OC was designated as the home team for 2 games. This sucks!

Also one of our players, Chacon, is a slap hitter. As far as I know she was not called out for being out of the box all year, as most slap hitters do hit out of the box. In this series she was called out 3 times for being out of the box. The rules should be the same in ALL games. I remember hammering an umpire between games in Canyon about an opposing slapper being out of the box consistently. She continued doing that in the next game and was never called out. Just be consistent!

The Lady Buffs are heading to Chattanooga for the world series, where I think they will win some games. Mook is a brilliant coach and will manage them well.

              • Congrats to the Lady Buffs. Rep the LSC well. They have a great SB program and can be competitive in every sport if they want to if that is the goal. Otherwise, I want to see buff blood on RAM teeth in every sport next season πŸ‘

Mook had to hustle in late spring early summer to find pitching to replace our national POY that transferred to Miss State.. Against top competition, ie, regional/super regionals. we may not cut the mustard this year. Mook will win 50 or so but not make the Elite 8.
Mook has so far found a way to work around the pitching, plus he is working hard with the pitchers. Janning's performance against OC in the 3rd game was excellent; Mook said it was her best pitching performance including high school.

I didn't expect a Mook team to have more home runs than B's 2014 championship team. The player who has the most home runs, and the highest batting average, Jordyn, hit .286 last year with Tyler.

#5 Seed Lady Buffs start off with a 1:30 game against #4 seed Cal-State San Marcos. Sam Marcos is hitting .348 and has a team ERA of 2.03. WT is batting .386 and it's ERA is 2.95. Cherry picking HRs: WT has 114, San Marcos 56.

San Marcos' 2 starting pitchers have ERAs in the low 1's. I'd have to give San Marcos the advantage because of their pitching numbers.

In the past those sort of the comparisons seemed reasonable, but the LSC is a really good softball conference. WT leads the nation in home runs, batting average, and slugging percentage. CSSM has 3 more hits, but in 5 more games. We have Mook. We should win some games. If the team stays focused, plays good defense, and Mook swaps out pitchers at the right time, we could win it all.
