Poor Jackoff-Of-The-GNAC is still “rounding up his stable full of lawyers” to fight for the existence of HSU football. He currently works closely with the burial service insurance industry as a hole digger.Originally posted by the tav View PostDid JackOfTheGNAC come out of the closet? I mean, hibernation? Checking out the landscape in case you might have to move back to the neighborhood? 😉
I was going to call you some names myself but since this is being monitored. 😂
ETAMU football has consistently improved every year since moving up, and I have been shouting over at AGS that this is the year my Lions finish above .500 in conference. I think we are 3 years out from a playoff appearance and 5 from being a title contender.

Not sure how football will turn out but all the other sports are getting dog walked only winning 25% of their games except for womens soccer.Originally posted by We-Are-Lions View Post

Good luck being a title contender the rate ACU and Tarleton have improved.

Just saw on a facebook post SE LA curb stomped ETAMU 59-14 last weekend.
If this is improvement....

I kind of miss Jack. Nothing worse than having your football program cut. HSU had put a couple of guys in the NFL, were getting 7K a game, featured in NY Times, only to have their east coast/short timer prez ax the sport.Originally posted by HOGSVRR View Post

I feel sorry HSU they had a rabid fanbase. And one fanboy. When the State debt is One Trillion Dollars of course Small Universities get hit hard. But, you get what you vote for. And Gavin Newsom thinks he’s going to be President 😂😂😂😂🖕Originally posted by tsull View Post

I remember him making a $500 bet with me in 2011 that they were going to make the playoff with a 9-1 record back in 2011.Originally posted by tsull View Post

Of course he disappeared for a bit when that didnt happen.

Never got a chance to go to Humboldt State; I heard it was a nice place to go.

Sorry I'm late to this conversation. It looks like it has already gone way off topic per usual. But......
Like the same principle from when I used to do online gaming growing up. Many of us have never met each other in person. In any sort of online forums and chat rooms, it's definitely a good rule of thumb not say something you would not say directly to someone's face in person. Sometimes it can be easier to forget that all the other users of these message boards are real other people.

When WOU was joining D2 at the turn of the century, these teams were still playing football but were soon to cut it:Originally posted by HOGSVRR View Post

Sonoma State
Chico State
Hayward State (now Cal State East Bay)
Sonoma State
Other teams that carried it on for awhile before cutting it:
Western Washington
Humboldt State
Simon Fraser
Azusa Pacific
Add CWU and WOU and there would be a cool D2 league out west. There's tons of D2 football talent up and down the West Coast, especially in California. A lot of players just quit playing football after high school instead of going thousands of miles from home.
Despite strong efforts to raise the money and keep the sport -- see WWU and Humboldt -- presidents made the easy and lazy decision to cut the sport. The tough decision is to try and raise the money. I've met very few small college admins who want to or can raise the money. At WOU, our strong scholarshipped men's program is due to one alum, who gets after it in fund raising. Expecting your D2 admin to hustle is asking too much. Yes, exceptions to the rule, guessing CWU's A.D. gets after it.

There are still tons of California Juco kids that are available to feed NW Universities if they wanted to field teams.Originally posted by tsull View Post

Correct there's a lot of junior colleges in California that play football and there's a lot of excellent players from those ranks. Western Oregon has a few, I'm guessing Central Washington has a few. That's what was baffling for me when all those D2 schools in California cut the sport, all those fine JC players down there we're kind of left without places to go has most guys at that level aren't High D1.Originally posted by HOGSVRR View Post

* I ran into a guy in Los Angeles at a coffee shop with a t-shirt on that said Chico State football alumni. I told him I was sorry that his college cut football and we had a good conversation, he was pretty fired up. Talk to any former football player at the schools that got their sport cut, and they're pretty upset. The presidents who cut these sports are just sipping wine at their lake cabin and not thinking one iota of the damage they've done.Last edited by tsull; 11-04-2025, 11:26 PM.
