Weird how Angelo State's enrollment is 25% more than WT's, yet WT operating budget is higher than ASU's. ???Last edited by MooseLodge; 02-19-2026, 01:29 PM.

Not sure about that specifically, but here is a couple of links to see dual enrollment numbers since 1999 as well as a lot of other interesting data.Originally posted by Rambunctious1 View Post
Does anyone know where we could see WT’s numbers with dual enrollment?
Angelo State seems to have really started emphasizing it when Brian May was president.
A couple of observations about dual enrollment:
1. It is not a revenue driver. School districts pay a much lower rate than regular students and the average number of Credit hours per dual enrollment student is just over 5. Angelo's funding for 11,211 reported students was $169.5 MM, while WT with 9,037 students was $178.4 MM. Even A&I was $174.9 MM with 6,862 students. Per student that's $15,125 for ASU, $19,744 for WT and $25,495 for A&I.
2. Look at the differences in the composition of grade levels. In 2024, Angelo's freshman class was 64.74% of the total student population (in 2013 freshmen were 29.43%). In 2024, WT was 20.79%. In particular, since 2013 at Angelo State, the sophomore population is down 14.6%, the junior population is down 10.3% and the senior population is down 8.9%, while the freshman population is up 292%.

Good stuff. On the first link, if you select "sophomore," you filter out all of the b.s. Most schools in Texas are flat to slightly declining over the last 5 years.

Just like the K12 schools are flat or declining. I read every day of one school system or another voting to close elementary locations. It's not going to change directions. Demographics are demographics.Originally posted by MooseLodge View Post

WT probably doesn't count HS dual enrollment in their announced numbers. Angelo does.
"West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) includes high school students enrolled in its programs in its overall enrollment figures."
