Coo played much better today. Dean and Mullen were very accurate and the two bowling ball runningbacks chewed up yards. Coo defense played much better. Got turnovers and the D line was dominant. Good get right game.

I went perfect in the pick'ems this week. Not much to say on SMSU as I haven't gotten to review the game yet.

Was able to get back to Brookings and into the DJDS to see the end of the Jacks game. If I'd have known I could have gotten in despite the sellout, I'd have left Vermillion much earlier.

Worth mentioning, but Northwestern (IA) beat Drake tonight.

Beautiful evening in the Key City. Mav receivers made some nice catches. Two TD lead at half, 31-14 final.

SMSU much more competitive than score indicates. Two fumbles in bemidji territory and two turnovers on downs in bemidji territory. SMSU threw for 273 yards-not much on the ground. Bemidji moved the ball throughout-but seemed to get bored as they got down in the red zone and had some funky play calls. Bemidji OL & DL are real deal studs.
No moral victories, but SMSU may have realized they can compete vs top quality opponents

If there is anyone with any pull at all reading this forum, TELL THEM TO STOP DOING THAT. These are D2 interns and professional broadcasters don't even do that in the NFL. It looks very amateur and makes it impossible to watch the game, which is a shame because the camera quality is good. We just need to stop showing off terrible angles for no reason.
This is one of my pet peeves in watching web broadcasts. There are 3 basic fundamentals to watching football. 1)You should get a decent view of the line of scrimmage area that includes the offensive backfield and the linebackers. 2)Do NOT camera switch in middle of the play. If you have other camera angles, ONLY use them if you have ability to show replays. 3)FOLLOW THE BALL.

Three things might be asking for a lot, but it's really not. It's just fundamental.

I have committed to emailing athletic directors (usually can be found on college athletic websites) whenever I see this crap being done. Last year, I was watching a Fort Lewis men's college basketball game, and the camera would constantly do this weird moving back and forth, like a child was controlling the motions, and during the game, the view would always swivel away from the area around the basket and would constantly miss action, and this kept happening over and over and over again. I emailed the Fort Lewis AD, and actually got a kind response, he said that the motion sensor being used must have not been tracking the action properly and apologized. The next time I tuned into a Fort Lewis game, the camera was not doing that weird swiveling anymore.

Years ago (maybe around 2010) I watched a Chadron at Mary football game, and the awful production switched camera in the middle of EVERY play. I ****ing hate it. I was so mad (also because Chadron lost that game), I emailed the Mary AD about the horrible camera switching, and never got a response.

I did catch some of that in the post game show. A loss is a loss, but it sounded like statistically they were neck and neck. Agreed on not taking the moral victory, but it does make me a little more curious on how tomorrow plays out.

EDIT: I mean "next game", not tomorrow.

I watched 3/4 of this one and the stats definitely do not tell the truth if they came out “neck and neck” at the end

                            Bemidji 27. SMSU 14
with 11 minutes left in the 4th quarter. SMSU throws TD pass that was called back due to holding call. I’d call it a competitive game at that point—eyeball test of the game would be much different. Bemidji definitely the better team. But Bemidji seemed to get bored, in the second half, or they wanted to pad Alt’s stats by throwing for TD after pounding the ball down the field, when they got to the red zone in the second half. That is why they settled for 2 FGs and missed on a third FG attempt in the second half.
I never said neck and neck. said they were competitive considering two fumbles in Bemidji territory and two turnovers on downs in Bemidji territory. Game was closer than final score indicated. Look at the stats and that supports the statement. No one said SMSU was better or close to Bemidji in terms of talent

Just what I heard on the postgame show. I haven't had time to dig into anything on my own yet.

Bemidji is pretty good. We didn't play terrible, played ok, a few things here and there, but the reality is Bemidji was better than us last night.

Having a 25 year old QB is a huge advantage. If Bemidji is ever going to make a deep run, this is the year.
