Week 5 NSIC Game Chat

Love the game today, first time here in Bemidji. What a great place to watch a game. The weather was terrific. The tailgating was great and both teams played hard. Sitting in the stands, it’s hard to rethink the game but obviously it came down to a few turnovers, a few drop passes and a few non-conversions on fourth down.

I've been to the Chet a few times. It's a nice field. A historic one too - those grounds were used for a Cowboys/Vikings scrimmage in the latter's inaugural year - the first time the Vikings ever faced another team.

Anyway, I've alI'ys enjoyed it up there. Glad to see you did as well, and sounds like a great game to have been there for.

Wasn't super impressed with Mankato today. They pulled off a good program win but it seemed like Bemidji lost the game more than kato won the game. If both these teams are playoff-bound, it would be intriguing to see a rematch.

I don’t understand what u wanted to see!!! On the road, homecoming game, sold out stands. A win is a win on the road!! I agree Kato didn’t play great BUT as a team they did. Offense did enough and defense did their part. Great team win.

Yeah it wasn't the greatest showing by MSU, but the Mavs did enough to get the win on enemy territory during their homecoming with some riled up fans.
I'll take the lessons learned today as it has been easily the hardest game the Mavs have played all year. 1 game at a time mindset, prepare for Moorhead at our homecoming in a week

I don't know about that. Coming into the game, BSU had the top run defense and MSU had the top run offense and the Mavs came out on top. Eckern's stats were not bad except for those INTs. No one expected a blow out either way.

I will struggle with anyone that feels those are not two, very good and equal teams. I really believe if they played 10 times, both would win 5. If they both stay ranked high, I hope the NCAA doesn’t make it an early playoff matchup. Both teams still have UMD too

I as an independent kinda person watched the Bemidji and MSU game. Both are talented and good teams. I thought both teams are not in mid season form yet. I think both will even get better by seasons end. I think MSU, Bemidji, and UMD will all make playoffs.

I agree with this except the part about Bemidji losing it. MSU didn’t play their best game by any means. I suspect Bemidji didn’t either. My guess is both could have done better, but also each team had something to do with the others lack of success at times. My earlier comments in the thread likely show my displeasure with the Mavs during the game. Haha. I think the game wasn’t as tight as it could be from either side but was good for both teams going forward as they’ll be in high pressure, high impact situations in the playoffs.
