So I had seen this posted last night and I'm wondering if Augie would have actually had the option to say "Nope, we're done, we win." Section 2.2 states "If a contest has been suspended prior to the reasonable point of conclusion, it must be resumed no later than 10 pm." Well that didn't happen here as the game was postponed after the end of third quarter. So Section 2.1 states "the contest will be deemed complete if it has at least reached a reasonable point of conclusion and CANNOT be resumed as determined by the game administration." This would tell me the game officials have the ability to determine if the game can be completed, which they knew would be possible once the lightning moved through the area. Either way, it's a good thing the game was able to be completed, and this may be another argument against Thursday night games for, you know, student-athletes.

I'd hope most coaches would do that. If the game can be played, and safe conditions are restored, have faith in your team and finish the job. Didn't work out in this case, but I think win or lose it's the right choice.Originally posted by laker View PostI had no idea that this rule existed. Hats off to OJ for agreeing to continue to play the game even though it ended up costing them the game.

Augustana coach OJ with 3:24 left in game could have called contest over, due to late time and a long lightning delay. With a 23-22 lead he elected to do the right thing and play on, Bulldogs scored a TD and 2-point conversion to lead game. With 37 seconds left Vikings moved ball down to UMD 27 yard line, with 3 seconds left an end zone throw fell incomplete sealing a 30-23 win for the home team Bulldogs.Originally posted by laker View PostI had no idea that this rule existed. I only saw the final score but going 2-0 to open the season after graduating an NFL QB has to be a good feeling up there. Hope they continue the train.Originally posted by IceBoxDragon View PostGame two in the books for the Dragons. Like last week, a solid performance by the offense, but some fine-tuning needed. Defense meanwhile looks largely good up front, but the secondary a bit vulnerable to big plays. Have to clean that up. But overall, about as good as a start to the season as you could ask for.

Jamestown feed has no audio and is a single camera from the top of the stands. Not real happy I got charged for this.
Edit: 10 minutes into the game the audio started, so at least there's that.
Edit again: after two minutes of audio, it went silent again.Last edited by Tundra_Man; 09-05-2026, 12:21 PM.

My son and I were discussing the USF @ Jamestown game, and noted that we hardly saw the refs throw any flags. I looked it up, and USF had 1 penalty for 5 yards, and Jamestown had 2 penalties for 20 yards. Three flags total in the whole game. I don't know if I've ever seen that few flags in a game.
