So I had seen this posted last night and I'm wondering if Augie would have actually had the option to say "Nope, we're done, we win." Section 2.2 states "If a contest has been suspended prior to the reasonable point of conclusion, it must be resumed no later than 10 pm." Well that didn't happen here as the game was postponed after the end of third quarter. So Section 2.1 states "the contest will be deemed complete if it has at least reached a reasonable point of conclusion and CANNOT be resumed as determined by the game administration." This would tell me the game officials have the ability to determine if the game can be completed, which they knew would be possible once the lightning moved through the area. Either way, it's a good thing the game was able to be completed, and this may be another argument against Thursday night games for, you know, student-athletes.

I'd hope most coaches would do that. If the game can be played, and safe conditions are restored, have faith in your team and finish the job. Didn't work out in this case, but I think win or lose it's the right choice.

Augustana coach OJ with 3:24 left in game could have called contest over, due to late time and a long lightning delay. With a 23-22 lead he elected to do the right thing and play on, Bulldogs scored a TD and 2-point conversion to lead game. With 37 seconds left Vikings moved ball down to UMD 27 yard line, with 3 seconds left an end zone throw fell incomplete sealing a 30-23 win for the home team Bulldogs.

Interesting rule - but good for Augie for making the right choice, not that choosing the other option was "wrong" but I always like playing to the final whistle whenever possible.

I only saw the final score but going 2-0 to open the season after graduating an NFL QB has to be a good feeling up there. Hope they continue the train.

Augie-UMD even game throughout. Difference was UMD scored touchdowns and Augie settled for FGs.

Kudos to the broadcast. Very solid production -- multiple camera angles for replays. Announcers were very fair. Not insufferable homers, unlike some others in the conference.

Jamestown feed has no audio and is a single camera from the top of the stands. Not real happy I got charged for this.

Edit: 10 minutes into the game the audio started, so at least there's that.

Edit again: after two minutes of audio, it went silent again.

USF wins against the Jimmies 31-0. Cougar defense only allowed 170 yards of offense.

Coo starting QB Tate Schaeffer did not play today. Not sure why.

My son and I were discussing the USF @ Jamestown game, and noted that we hardly saw the refs throw any flags. I looked it up, and USF had 1 penalty for 5 yards, and Jamestown had 2 penalties for 20 yards. Three flags total in the whole game. I don't know if I've ever seen that few flags in a game.

Saturday's games were awful, with 3 contests scores combined equaling 117-7. Did see a glimmer of hope for Mary as they moved the on some drives that ended in a turnover. Mavs fly to the ball and tackle well. Sam Backer is a tackle busting machine at RB for MSU.

                                Time of possession:
                                Bemidji: 40:51
                                SMSU: 19:09

Hard to win a football game that way.....
