INDIANAPOLIS - The first NCAA Power Index (NPI) ranking have been releasd. At-large teams will be selected using the NCAA Power Index (NPI), the system that houses the division’s statistical data and objectively applies the selection criteria to the data based on the sport committee’s established weighted criteria. NPI will determine the at-large teams selected to the championship after the Automatic Qualifiers (AQ) have been designated.

The NSIC, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the Great Lakes Valley Conference and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference make up the 41-team Super Region 3. There will be eight teams selected per super region to make up the field of 32 teams. So with this list, we're looking at the top 7 since one conference winner (can't remember the conference) won't be in the top 8, correct?

Yes, if going off this list, it'd be Top 7 and the champion from the GLVC.

Is NPI the only metric for playoff selection, or does a committee still select the teams using this as a guide?

Looks like this is it. From what was said, even head to head doesn't matter.

NPI only. Outside of determining the initial NPI criteria, no humans are involved.

Good info. Hard to believe that H2H wouldn't play some role, but I guess this is the way to let the computer numbers do the work and take out discussions.

Yeah, but it's impossible to add in H2H to a number ranked system. Even when the old system was in place, I'm not so sure it was used until the final week.
