That's pretty much the spread I would have picked. Little did I know that Kellem would be the only one who could shoot straight tonight.

Ship usually plays pretty great defense, but Haven guys drove the lane at every key moment tonight without being impeded. And none of the other top-level clubs are nearly as dependent on their perimeter shooting. If it's not there, the Raiders can be beaten by anybody (except maybe Mansfield).

Gannon men score 56 points to take control of the game early in the second half and cruise to an 8-point victory! The speedy guard-oriented lineup has been the answer for Reilly. It's too bad that it took half the season to figure it out.

Overall it's a pretty weak lineup tonight.

Clarion at Slippery Rock - Will be over by halftime. Rock -18

Mercyhurst at Seton Hill - Trevor Blondin has missed the last two games. It won't matter with or without him. Lakers -16

Cal at Pitt-Johnstown - One of the better games of the night. Over/Under may be 200 points. There won't be any defense played. UPJ -3

Gannon at Edinboro - Rivalry game doesn't have much sizzle this year. With no Boro inside game Gannon should pull away. Knights -10

West Chester at Goldey-Beacom - GB keeps this close for 25 minutes but WCU has too much. Rams -12

Shippensburg at Lock Haven - Stat game for the Raiders. Ship -18

Kutztown at Mansfield - Anthony Lee may go for 50. Bears -24

Millersville at Bloomsburg - Huskies have shown some life lately. Millersville is a step up in competition. Marauders -7

IUP at East Stroudsburg - Game of the Week. IUP wins in the end. Size is the difference. Hawks -3

Looks like this weekend's Slippery Rock at Mansfield game has been moved up to Friday due to the expected winter storms.

I wonder if more games are going to follow this path.

Good week for Gannon. Saw the second half of both games via webcast.

UPJ, the ultimate finesse team, is the perfect matchup for a physical team like Gannon. The Knights stifled them all night.

GU somehow scored 47 second half points to knock off Seton Hill. This week pretty much solidifies the fact that the Knights won't lose 20 games. We'll see after that.

Nicholas played in 12 games and averaged about 7 mpg. The rest were deep bench types.

    Odd, nevertheless.

If anything they won't need a second row on the bench for all their coaches.
Yeah, that came out last Saturday. The one thing they lose is Biss' backup at point guard in Nicholas. The other three were getting no playing time. The result -- Biss is going to play 37-38 minutes, with Kellem sliding out to the point when necessary. They're eight-deep now instead of nine-deep; Dom Sleva, Daylon Carter and Carlos Carter are all quality reserves.

I'm told Nicholas chose to transfer. One was asked to leave, one couldn't spell "cat" if you spotted him the C and the T, and the third, nobody knows and fewer asked.

    * Am I the only one that thinks UPJ isn't as good as their record? I don't see Gannon beating them as an upset.

Fair question. They started well. UPJ beat Virginia State, lost late to Concord and took Le Moyne to 3 OT.

Were VSU and Le Moyne looking ahead to IUP the next night? Perhaps.

They did play a very good Shippensburg team down to the wire before losing and beat up Kutztown.

That said, their last 3 games they beat Clarion by 1 point, got beat up in Indiana and lost to a previously 3-10 Gannon team.

My guess is they caught some people off guard early in the year. You look at their roster and it's so young.

UPJ may be a pretty scary bunch next year. Remember star guard Drew Magestro is sitting out this year. He'll return next year along with Josh Wise and this current freshmen class (which is getting a ton of experience).

This year's team: You rattle Josh Wise and you rattle the whole team. IUP did that. Gannon did last night. Everything flows through him.

They will continue to struggle this year with the bigger, more physically stronger teams, but will always be a tough out in Johnstown. They shoot the lights out up there.

I don't see them beating Mercyhurst or Slippery Rock. IUP causes way too many problems for them. They could certainly be in line for that fourth spot, though.

    * Hurst won't go away boys and they are hitting that part of their schedule that they can wheel off 5/6 wins. I'm impressed with that team. They can score this year.
    * The Rock is back and starting to hit their peak.

    UPDATED STANDINGS

    EAST

Shippensburg (7-1, 13-3) - Rival Kutztown visits this Saturday. Never know what that may bring.
East Stroudsburg (7-1, 10-4) - Idle this Saturday. Week to prepare for IUP's visit.
West Chester (6-2, 9-5) - Here they come. Rams should play the role of poor host to Bloomsburg in a couple days.
Kutztown (4-4, 10-6) - Bears have won three straight after very inconsistent start. Trip to Ship is a must-win.
Lock Haven (4-4, 5-6) - Cal comes to town Saturday.
Millersville (3-4, 7-7) - Close but no cigar.
Bloomsburg (2-5, 5-7) - Hung a hundy on Wilmington. Trip to WCU won't be easy.
Mansfield (0-8, 1-12) - Going to be a long, cold winter up North.

    WEST

IUP (7-0, 14-0) - Finish one big game. Prepare for next big game. Schedule finally lightens up after trip to ESU next week.
Slippery Rock (6-1, 9-5) - Rock is rolling. Total shame they have to host IUP over break in what will be an empty Morrow.
UPJ (4-3, 9-5) - The perfect cure for the Mountain Cats hangover visits Johnstown this weekend: Edinboro.
Mercyhurst (3-4, 8-4) - Lakers aren't going away. Tough team.
California (3-4, 5-8) - Vulcans should have an easy trip to Lock Haven prior to their likely shootout in Johnstown next Wednesday.
Clarion (2-5, 4-7) - Tremendous comeback win against Seton Hill. Unfortunately, an angry Mercyhurst visits in 48 hours.
Gannon (2-6, 4-10) - Huge upset over UPJ. Next three: Seton Hill, Edinboro, Clarion. If a turnaround is in the cards, this is the time.
Edinboro (1-6, 4-8) - An already short bench got further decimated with injuries.
Seton Hill (1-6, 3-10) - Trevor Blondin, where are you?

Anybody else think #5 from Mercyhurst looks like the old guy playing ball at the YMCA? Kid can really shoot but if he isn't spot shooting then he's a nightmare. Any time he had to dribble or defend it was god awful!
