Re: PSAC WEST
Decent lineup on hand tonight. These lines just posted in Vegas. You gambling degenerates can call in your bets.
West Chester at East Stroudsburg
- Game of the night. Both enter with identical 8-2 conference records. They enter on different paths, however. West Chester has won 7 straight. ESU is 2-3 in its past 5 outings. Granted, in that stretch the Warriors lost in OT to IUP and by 6 points at Shippensburg. West Chester has some decent wins (Kutztown, Millersville) but is lacking a true signature win this season. These programs know each other very well. The coaches know each other well. Both are deep. Hard one to predict. Home team gets the edge. The Warriors have to play clean(er) and not have three players fouling out. East Stroudsburg wins in the final three minutes. Warriors -4
Gannon at Mercyhurst
- Locals call it the 'First to 50' ... there could be a couple more buckets tonight. But, probably not many. These Lakers aren't the Lakers we've grown accustomed to over the years. Like their predecessors, they play great defense, but this group can score. A lot. Mercyhurst can get real hot from outside, and Jason Massey is a monster driving the basket and from mid-range. The problem is Gannon is one of the hardest teams to shoot three-pointers against in the league. The Knights have also switched to a smaller, faster lineup -- and have won four straight. On paper one would expect this to be lopsided, but that won't be the case. Gannon puts up a big fight, but when it's all said and done Mercyhurst just has too much. Lakers win a tight one. Mercyhurst -6
California at IUP
- This is the undercard event tonight being played in the main event time slot. Danny Sancomb at long last makes his KCAC debut. It may not be a pleasant experience. Cal has been sporadic as of late. Since the Vulcans won at Gannon on Jan. 5, they have gone 1-3. That stretch includes a blowout loss in Johnstown and a recent home loss to Seton Hill. Cal will have an incredible size disadvantage tonight and the IUP post will cause all kinds of problems. Add to it Cal's five starters are all playing 30+ minutes per game. IUP's quality depth will be a lot to overcome. The Vulcans have to shoot the lights out from outside to have a prayer in this one. Insiders tip: IUP has struggled and played sloppy over the years in the first game back with all the students. Cal finds a way to keep this competitive for 20-25 minutes. IUP just has too much in too many places. Crimson Hawks pull away in the second half. IUP -14
Lock Haven at Millersville
- The 'Ville is the best team in the PSAC nobody knows about ... this one will get ugly. Millersville -16
Pitt-Johnstown at Slippery Rock
- This is the classic game UPJ is known to somehow win. The Mountain Cats have an elaborate history of pulling upsets. This would be another one. UPJ just took Mercyhurst to the final 30 seconds before losing. Does that mean they can hang with SRU? Perhaps. If, of course, the game was in Johnstown. This one is not. Morrow should be rocking tonight. The bandwagon types our coming out of the woodwork at SRU. UPJ is good -- on certain nights. And, in particular in Johnstown. Not going to say it can't happen, but UPJ just doesn't have enough inside the post to win this type of game on the road. That said, SRU is due for a flop game. It just won't be tonight. Slippery Rock -9
Edinboro at Clarion
- The good news is: Somebody has to win. Both teams lack scorers. Edinboro really only has one option from outside and one part-time option inside. Clarion is fighting for every point. Go with the visitors in what should actually be a very good, tight game. Edinboro -2
Seton Hill at Bloomsburg
- Seton Hill has slowly improved and is starting to have that traditional look of a team capable of pulling an upset. The Griffins did take SRU to OT in Morrow not long ago. Bloomsburg has been real sporadic. Home team gets the slight edge. Huskies -2

Re: PSAC WEST
That's a pretty rare situation to have conference rivals seperated by about, what, 3 miles.Originally posted by Golden89 View PostStudent attendance isn't what it used to be, but the Lakers do get students to turn out for this one.
Mercyhurst is pretty good. They are real close to being14-1 instead of 11-4.
Just remember something IUP struggled with ... Pratapas isn't coming in to the game to do anything except launch treys. From everywhere.
Their guard, Massey, is very difficult to control. Big, strong kid and a fantastic rim driver. Excellent mid-range shot. Very bright (Brown transfer). Gary really found one with him.
Not your typical Laker team. They can score some serious points. Gannon is always difficult to score on and JR takes away the trey as well as any team around.
I'm intrigued to see this new 'fast' Gannon team against a solid opponent.

Student attendance isn't what it used to be, but the Lakers do get students to turn out for this one.Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View PostI'd love to watch it. Never get to as it never lines up right. Do the students get up for this one? Not an easy assignment for the ref crew.

Re: PSAC WEST
UPDATED STANDINGS
WEST
IUP (9-1, 16-1) - Cal, (at) Clarion and (at) Seton Hill make up the next three
Slippery Rock (9-1, 12-5) - Rock has reeled off 10 straight wins after 2-5 start
Mercyhurst (6-4, 11-4) - Lakers ended three-game skid by winning past three outings ... the 'First to 50' game tomorrow with Gannon
Pitt-Johnstown (6-4, 11-6) - Lost late to Mercyhurst last night. Trip to Morrow tomorrow.
Gannon (5-6, 7-10) - Knights have taken advantage of schedule stretch and won past four ... may have figured some things out. Time to prove it tomorrow.
California (4-6, 6-10) - Bad home loss to Seton Hill ... daunting road trip to the KCAC up next.
Clarion (2-8, 4-10) - Clarion is playing in the intramural building this year. Lately, they have looked like an intramural team.
Seton Hill (2-8, 4-12) - Big win at Cal. Griffins have improved despite record. Lot of close losses.
Edinboro (1-9, 4-11) - Things are getting real bad in McComb. Scots get must-win trip to Clarion prior to hosting SRU, Mercyhurst and UPJ. Yikes.
EAST
Shippensburg (8-2, 14-4) - Hosting Mansfield tomorrow should cure the Lock Haven hangover prior to Saturday's big one in West Chester
West Chester (8-2, 12-5) - Rams have tore off 7 straight W's, but face a brutal week -- (at) ESU and hosting Ship.
East Stroudsburg (8-2, 11-5) - Rough 3-game stretch starts tomorrow: West Chester, (at) Kutztown and Millersville
Millersville (6-4, 10-7) - Finally broke out and got a big win at Kutztown last night. Lock Haven and a rejuvenated Gannon both visit up next.
Kutztown (5-6, 11-8) - Bears dismal NCAA hopes likely evaporated last night.
Lock Haven (5-6, 6-8) - The Haven gave West Chester a game before losing by 10.
Bloomsburg (2-8, 5-10) - Seton Hill and Mansfield up next ... should give the Huskies a chance to get back on course
Mansfield (0-11, 1-15) - Eleven games left and it's all over.
