Basketball -- men's and women's -- is a strange bird up in Happy Valley. Wrestling and women's volleyball have blown past basketball in the pecking order there.

Lots to talk about now that 18-19 is in the books.
This team had several outstanding wins this year as well as several puzzling losses. Beating IUP twice as well as GSU were definite highpoints while losing to BORO twice and SRU and KUTZ absolutely rotten losses. Don't consider the SHU loss in the same class because they can be difficult at home.
Congrats on a great career to SEAIRRA BARRETT one of CAL U greatest, and many thanks to to all the effort put forth by ABBEY SPORIO, JIAHNA FLOOD-FRANCIS and the latest "wonder from down under" EMILY SUCKLING.They all epitomized what it takes to be a part of VULCANS WBB.
Very happy the the large freshman class got as much playing time as they did because it will certainly come in handy next year. Overall the 4 who played, ALLEN, WOODYARD, BENNETT and HARRISON were on the court almost 25% of the time and all showed some flashes of what's to come.
If I were to guess the starting five to the '19-'20 season will be JASPER, VALLECORSA, HAHN, ALLEN and WOODYARD.
Finally, keeping my eyes on PSU HC search, I see COACH STROM mentioned in various blogs as a possibility but truly a longshot. That makes me a happy VULCANS WBB fan.

5'6" PG 1st team PA 3A all state scored 2285 points at PHILLIPSBURG-OSCEOLA breaking 30 year record for Centre county. As noted she is friends with OLIVIA HUDSON and they recently faced each other in a Blair county/ Centre county all star game. May be the 3 pt specialist that JESS STROM has been searching for and also apparently plays D.

She'll be interesting to watch under Strom. Solid offensive player. Non-existent defensive player.

BURNS could be the IRINA KUKOLJ of '19-'20. Time will tell.

To not think Burns will get a lot of minutes then you don't know much about her. She will automatically be the top 3-point threat in the West Division and with a good supporting cast (more than she had at WJU 2 years ago where she was around 17 pts a game and score 1,000 points in 2 seasons). She is one of the hardest workers you will see and much improved defensively from her IUP days with 42 steals her last season and also didn't cost Cal anything scholarship wise since her father works at Cal.

What I do know about her is as a guard she turns the ball over twice as often as she steals it (3 years-190TO/97STLS). Though she shoots ultra high FT %, because she shoots long range her FTA are less than half that of the lead PG for CAL U (299 vs 680) in the three seasons she's played. She shoots a nice 3 and could get some time as the offensive spark much like KUKOLJ was for the 14-15 team. But like IRINA she will be pulled on a regular basis for defensive purposes. Her 42 steals only ranked 4th on her 17-18 WJU team. My guess she may see 10-15 MPG if the scoring isn't coming from others.
