Its just such an afterthought. Nobody is bored anymore. All the video games, movies, music, free porn, etc. you could want in your pocket.

Those things aren't much different than they were 3 years ago.

LOL. Yeah, those things you list don't weigh much with the IUP crowd (which probably has an average age of about 70 years old).

Now, your average, casual fans, have without question grown fed up with the KCAC. Joe Average isn't paying $18-$20 per ticket to watch a D2 game. Add to it the highway robbery concessions sold in there.

Joe lost a good bit of fans the past two seasons with some, well, interesting roster decisions.

The team isn't marketed at all. It's awful.

Add it all up, and, well, the numbers don't lie.

Agree with you on pricing. Don't forget that some people won't deviate from cash so going to cashless ticketing and concessions puts a line in the sand. General admission season tickets for any ticketed PSAC team should be $50/person and some deal for a family. Maybe $100 for a family. General admission single game tickets like high school should be $5 in advance and $7-10 at the gate. All-in after fees. Eat the processing costs - the alumni & development/advancement offices do. I hate when a place only gives me one way to pay (online) then push fees off onto the consumer. The Walmart principle matters here. Lower the cost and draw more fans to make more money. The least business savvy people I know always get hung up on "money left on the table." Hell, sell tickets for $1. Butts in seats is far more powerful than $1,500 in revenue per game.

I also think the PSAC schools should be giving tickets away all the time. At the very least invite groups. Every football game where the visiting team isn't bringing a band should have a local high school band to fill the void (and the stands). Offer for them to eat lunch in the cafeteria (more $). Send players to local elementary and middle schools and give away tickets. Invite all the local pee wee football programs. Kids are free, parents are $5. Show more kids really good football for cheap. Invite all the scout groups. Church youth groups. Every local high school athlete should be able to get a pass in exchange for giving the coach their info. Butts. In. Seats.

          • I was down south at some D2 schools and they didn't even charge for women's games. They just found a corporate sponsor to "buy" sponsorship to a game and that included free admission for fans.

I know there is no end to greed, especially with college sports, but that was kind of nice.

PSAC semis time. All four semifinalist are from the west. Not a surprise.

I like that idea. So many people are already getting in for free at many of our schools and we still have excess capacity, so why not. I actually think that's a better sponsorship value than a lot of other options available. Free admission on behalf of IUPNation Oil Pricing Projections goes a lot further than its logo on the video board.

              • Agreed. And they advertised it on the schedule too! "Free admission courtesy of...."

I was surprised at the pricing level bigIndians mentioned for IUP. Ship, I believe is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. It's basically about the price for our local high schools. I give a few hundred to the athletic program and get free passes to all football and basketball games. They gave me four passes this year. I give one to a good friend, who isn't an alum, but attends games with me and occasionally contributes to Ship fundraisers.

I remember Ship playing in a holiday tourney or two at neutral arenas when I attended, for example in the Steelton Lions Tournament during the 1967-68 season. This was a good way of showing the team at different venues to people who don't often attend a PSAC game. I don't think most people in our area have any idea of the talent level required to start at D2 these days. But I understand current NCAA rules work against having these tournaments now. It kills me — do all the gambling you want on sports, but don't hold those holiday tournaments. Wow.

I agree that flooding area schools and youth groups with tickets could be a good strategy. How many low-cost events are available to families these days? And they've managed to keep concessions at a reasonable price at Ship. Also, there are almost always athletes from local schools on our teams — certainly much more than at a big school like Penn State that recruits nationally.

                          • Is the thought, then, that IUP will host the women?

(This answer will significantly lower my blood pressure as I head to the WLU men's game LOL. If IUP is hosting the women, then home court for half-bracket is not on the line today and a conference tourney and seed is all that's at stake--seemingly lower stakes in my opinion).

And by the way, the Concord, Boro, & Fairmont women better be watching: Charleston is making a really game effort at stealing a bid in the MEC women's tourney.

                            • I do think IUP women will now host. Gannon will probably drop to 6th now in the national polls. Lol

Good win by IUP, but their stupidity almost cost them. I feel dumber for watching a team try and blow a 7 point lead with 40 seconds. Gannon played poorly, but IUP did everything they could to give it away.

Not sure either of these teams deserve an Elite Eight berth playing like they did today

Yes, IUP will host. It's not even up for discussion.
