I'm talking about hours, not importance or vitality. SIDs work 50-60 hours for 30 weeks a year. No vacation.

You don't become an SID without knowing what you're walking in to. That's the ultimate stat geek job. It is certainly an under-appreciated position within the university hierarchy.

At this level - with very limited resources - any SID best pray he can find some reliable student helpers.

I would think they do catch at least a break of sorts during the Christmas season. Basketball and swimming is still active but not much else.

Mercyhurst plays at WVU in December.

Gary will be wishing he was back in Clarion.

Yeah, doesn't look as if WVU is exactly swinging for the fences with its early schedule. Guess they figure the Big 12 is enough.

No full schedule but roster is posted on their website.

Lot of new faces. Only 4-5 returners from last year. Couple intriguing transfers including UNC-Wilmington transfer and a D3 All American from Catholic U

                        Planutis did end up staying.

SIDs work avg 45-50 hours year round. Most are tasked with helping with summer camps, any kind of public service events in summer etc. A friend is a SID and she's over 40 hours year round and late fall/winter/early spring she's at least 55 each week

I've heard Hurst's non conference are mainly D2/D3 schools outside of a few D1 opps

Also curious what Manchels relationship to D3 Catholic University is. 2 grad transfers from there.

My stepson, in addition to owning a small business, works at a full-time job. My stepdaughter, who also has a full-time job and supervises several people, helps him out with it. After working their jobs during the week, they often are working at the business all day Saturday. They also are there various times during the week making product, picking up shipments to take to another location, etc. They probably work a minimum of 60 hours a week. A young lady at our church has worked as many as three part-time jobs at once to make ends meet. It's not that unusual for people to be working long hours these days. It's not cheap to live, especially if you have kids. And until we figure out a way to get more affordable housing built in this country, it's not going to get easier for a lot of folks. All this is a long way of saying the hours SIDs work are not so unusual these days.
