As noted in the 2019 Recruiting thread (due to the lack of a 2020 Recruiting thread, which I will probably remedy shortly), Augie picked up a commitment from Sioux Falls O'Gorman 2020 forward Akoi Akoi.

I don't know a ton about Akoi as I don't generally follow HS basketball all that closely, but he seems to be a long and athletic player who could make for a solid forward for us. Here are some tweets/highlights/etc.

My two largest concerns going into this season were point guard play and defense. While the competition was less than stellar, I feel better about both already. Matt Todd started slow but he came alive in the second half, his ability to dribble drive will be a huge asset. Adam Dykman is back from his shoulder injury and threw down a vicious dunk. Bennett Otto also showed flashes of serious potential.

Overall the depth of this team, even without Dylan Lebrun and Trevor Hanson, is going to overwhelm a lot of opponents.
Interesting side note...Matt Todd, Jameson Bryan, John Beeninga, Bryce Irsfeld, Jacob Beeninga (probably redshirt this season)...are similar in that each some of highest rated high school pgs to come out of state of MN the past few years that did not go D1. Different players for sure, but similar in some respects in how they play the game.

While I doubt he will ever be our leading scorer, Beau Keeve is pretty feisty defensively too at the guard spot.

Also worth noting that 4 walk-ons played the final 8-ish minutes of the game. So it's not like we left starters in to run up the score.

Believe Lebrun is sick or something and Hanson has a lingering injury, I think.

Augustana is going to be joining a significantly improved Summit League in a few years.

I know you've been anti-Augie to the Summit from the beginning and that's your prerogative.

    Third on the upgrades clarification.

If the Dakota school Presidents are short sighted thinkers then a yes vote would be difficult. The travel and attendance benefits of adding Augie are quantifiable and real. Not to mention the stability provided by adding another conference member in case the well known financial issues at Western Illinois cause them to leave.

I was thinking the same thing. Good question!

Here's to hoping Ryan does a great job of helping the rest of the world see that Augie is the greatest university in history.
Our plan is coming together nicely...oh the information we will receive! Muwahaha

(Relatively insincere) sorry to NSU4LIFE. :)

A native of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Ryan is a 2011 graduate of Northern State University where he majored in sports marketing and administration. During his undergraduate years, he also served as a student coach under legendary basketball coach Don Meyer. Following graduation, he worked as a graduate assistant in the Wolves' sports information office and covered women's soccer, women's basketball, swimming and diving, and softball.

I would like it if conferences would reorganize into groups that made sense. Remember when the Big East was going to include Boise State and San Diego State? Insanity. I'd rather have conferences with ten teams- straight round robin and a chance to have some non-conference games in football. It made total sense for P-FW to go to the Horizon- and for UMKC to come back to the Summit. There are some other moves that should be made.
