Re: The Focus Shifts to Municipal Auditorium

Made it home and have a chance to post.

Felt our guys played a good game today - can't fault anyone. Hays played hard and certainly earned the win. Very physical game with tons of fouls called. A game that could've went either way.

Remember, Hays moves to 19-11 now. They are no slouch.

Hard to believe a team loses when they had 22 more free throw attempts.

Easy to believe if the other team is making field goals instead of having to go the line.

Funny thing about stats in an even game...one always balances out the other.

"Bench points were greater...." okay then it equaled out when comparing starters' scoring.

        "Points in the paint..."

        "Fast break points..."

Well, glad I misread the stat sheet. Got home late and caught the last couple minutes of the game. Despite the win, I groaned when I thought I read he only played 10 minutes.

And now you know why Kansas is so confident going into every game. :)

What if I told you the other team was going to go 6-6 better than you from the field and half of those extra six makes were going to be 3-pointers? Would you take that EVERY game and feel really good about winning?

                That's the statistical flip-side of today's game.

Fort Hays was called for 55% more fouls than the Lions today. Let's assume the refs didn't call every foul they should have. Which means there was pushing and shoving and hacking that didn't get called. Assume the refs were fair. Based on averages, there would be uncalled fouls or pushing/shoving/ hacking equal to 55% more by Hays than Southern, which leads to missed shots, turnovers, frustration, etc.

46 fouls called - not a pretty game, not a good flow, and turned into a solid equalizer (86-85 in OT seems pretty equal).

Ndow played well for having a bum ankle. Not 100% clearly in my view. Pitts looks to be healthy again. Seeing him knife through the lane multiple times tonight looked like JP of old. My next question is why did Ndow have the number 12 on?

Lasted as long as the MOSO revenge tour.

Valiant effort by our guys, but we haven't fared well in these ugly games this year. This game and the Washburn game were the two ugliest games I saw this year as far as fouling, and we didn't fare well in either. Hope our guys can make up for it next week.

Coach McCollum said Ndow was at 70% tonight. Glad to see JP getting back to his old ways. No idea why Ndow was wearing #12.

Radio simply said he forgot to pack his jersey!
