First back-to-back road wins for the men since 2014-2015. Griffs overcome an 11-point deficit in the second half yesterday to beat NSU 71-70.

Women led wire-to-wire in beating NSU 63-49. Important bounce-back after giving up 29 points in the fourth quarter against UCO.

Home games against Washburn Wednesday and Emporia State Saturday.

The focus on the foul at the end obscures the effort by both teams in the loss to Washburn. With the exception of a few minutes in the second half when the team seemed content to settle for the "easy answer" 3s, this was a very good offensive effort by the Griffs. The 20 assists is the most in a game since 2010. I can live with 14 turnovers at that pace against a quality opponent.

Washburn was credited with 14 fast break points - it felt like 50. They got up and down the floor quick.

All in all, another step forward for the Griffon men's program.

Highlights from Saturday night. The Griffon women beat Northwest by 23. The first half was one of the better defensive efforts I've seen from them in a while.



The Griffon men lost to Northwest by 23:

At the risk of taking away from the winners, I think the stage was just a little too big for the underdogs in both games. Too bad; it was fun seeing the gym full, and would have been great to experience the atmosphere in a close game. There was a brief taste of it when the Griffon men crawled back to within 4, but the Bearcats put an end to that with a 10-run and it was never competitive after that.
