most kids can shoot but not many have good low post moves coming in. fun to see that

I don't know how many people know this, but one of Aeron's assistant coaches in high school was former Mustang hooper Chad Orum.

It's been an inconsistent start to the season fighting through Omot's injury, but we already have wins over the current Nos. 12 and 17 in Division II, and narrowly lost to the No. 6 team.

I love that we could steal someone like that from Winona's back yard! (his HS is 35 miles from McCown Gymnasium)

He will be an all-timer for the Mustangs for however long he dons the SMSU jersey. What he is already doing is incredible. Just to compare him to a few other all-time Mustang bigs in their first full season...

Scott Koenen 13.6 ppg, 7.4 rpg
Aeron Stevens 12.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg
Chad Koenen 10.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg
Carter Kirk 8.2 ppg, 5.4 rpg
Mike Tobin 8.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg
Jake Phipps 7.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg
Majok Majouk 6.8 ppg, 4.9 rpg
Mitch Weg 6.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg
(if you're wondering why a long list of other bigs weren't included, I cut off the list at 6.0 ppg in their first season)

For the season he has attempted 69 FG and 69 FT.

            Nice.

Also that's an absurd 100% FT rate, I need to see this tomorrow to believe it.

It’s an advantage sometimes to have a nearby prospect, but sometimes not. A lot of kids prefer to create some distance between home and college. Who knows this situation but steal might be a little strong.

That kind of mindset usually results in kids going to the "big city." Not Marshall.

A very Jekyll & Hyde season so far. Some incredible highs along with some brutal lows.

In the last three games, he's cooled off and down to a FT rate of just 92.3%. What a bum!

I was actually thinking about this earlier today...Stevens probably doesn't even dress this year if Majok hadn't gotten dreams of Division I. Now Aeron is averaging 12/5 in 26 mpg as a true freshman while Majok is at (a very good) Central Oklahoma in the MIAA averaging 5/2 in 13 mpg.
