They may be looking in the coaches transfer portal as well.

This would be best case for all involved parties...

Between MBB and FB Northern seems to have an epidemic of the transfer flu. Very unfortunate.

It’s probably because they read some of nsu4life’s posts on this site. ;)

Transfer portal is very difficult reality for all in college athletics. The athletic departments and coaches that prioritize a strong and positive culture (and coordinate some decent player NIL money) have the best chance to keep a few more players around longer. Ultimately, many top players will seek greener pastures (and more NIL money), but program culture is going to be essential to keep players around. It’s not necessarily all about the money.

The portal will be even more tricky for D2 programs. A good DII player is probably worth thousands of dollars in NIL to a lower level DI. Will we start seeing DII filled with more drop down transfers that stay one year only? I tend to think so.

A friendly reminder in football 27 % of the portal kids actually get the same amount of money or more. 63% get less or none.

In football it might fix itself over time.

Basketball is another animal. Everyone thinks they are all conference

They get confused, end up on tennis teams. The portal ruins everything!

Hearing that Owen Hektner in portal for Msum. Unfortunately he never got in rotation. Hoped he would have the size and shooting ability to make an impact, but it just never materialized.
