Congrats to them. But the 3 teams that comprise their 4 wins are trending to be bottom 4-5 in the conference this year. They are 2-11 combined in NSIC play, with two of them winless.
This would be the year to join. The NSIC appears way down.

Couple observations/opinions that I have as we get near Christmas—
SMSU has a chance to have a pretty great season. The schedule sets up nice for them only getting Minot and MSUM once and both at home.
I tend to agree that the NSIC—and the central region as a whole— is down. I don’t think it has the top end teams to compete nationally like it did last year. NSIC easily best conference in the country and central region easily the best region in the country a year ago and whoever came out of that region was winning the natty. Not the case this year (Maybe Washburn? Probably not).
This is the year Minot is going to finally get to the regional.
I think CSP is very good but their play style makes them vulnerable to bad losses.
It’s going to be really tough for Kato to get any sort of win streak going in the league with them being down combined with getting everyone’s “A” game every night. Gonna probably have to win the conference tourney to get in.
I don’t know a damn thing about Winona.
MSUM right up there with SMSU as favorites to win the league.
Duluth doesn’t shoot it well enough.
The bottom 1/3 of the league STINKS.

The NSIC is a grind though, so I don't expect to get through the league untouched.

My 2 cents from play so far:
Kato back to being regular kato. Transfers are eh, had one year where they hit on 3 of them and it worked out. Glad to see them struggling.
Anyone see the Jamir Allen news out of St. cloud?
Jeepers.
My Marauders will be in the ****ter again.
I’ll take Duluth to win the league, defensive juggernauts over there, might be better without their guys from last year.
Sleeper to win the league is Crookston I think this year. Besides lack of talent, shooting, ball-handling, defense, and coaching I think if they put it together they can find themselves up top.
Go Marauders

I will say this—the central region is WIDE open. No NW to worry about for the first time in forever. Maybe that’s why I don’t think it’s very good. Again, I would love to be wrong.
I will be rooting for the NSIC to host so I can go—Kato was very fun last year. So I’ll jump on the MSUM and SMSU bandwagon. As cool as it would be for Minot, I’m not driving there, lol.

My biggest flaw though right now might be that I need to adjust my expectations of NWMSU. It might be easy to see their 4 losses to NSIC teams and see it as an indication of the NSIC's strength when it might just be an indictment of NWMSU's downfall.
