He is under no "restriction". What risk was Coutee? He didn't qualify for Uof L because he didn't "graduate" juco which was to be d1 eligible but did obtain 48 hrs. What was Reque risk? Nothing. Again juco non d1 qualifier same as Macklin, Nelson, Carter Davis III, the guy he just signed from Florida etc.
Just an excuse for his failures. Same BS weber is trying to spin in Manhatten and tried at UI. They just can't recruit.

Coutee and Newsome were both "at-risk" kids academically. Roundtree, who I noticed you avoided mentioning, was a bad kid who had no business in college, but Herdes insisted and we know the rest of that story. John Mark Hall, Dr. Rochon, and Dr. Bennett will not allow a Ronald Roundtree type of player in USI any longer, one result of the Herdes scandal. The kitten offender, as I told you earlier, will not be allowed to play at USI. Period.

No, you are wrong again. Coach Watson was informed in July this recruit will not be permitted to play at USI. You appear to just be full of bad information. Perhaps you should also stop with the name calling, makes you look rather immature and uneducated.

No, I do not make up BS to defend Coach Watson or anyone else. Again, all facts known to us in the "inner-circle" and I'm not talking about the Varsity Club, either. Watson has restrictions on what type of players are acceptable. You are just an immature Watson-basher looking for a narrative that fits your childish agenda. I never said Watson is as good as Pearl, and I agree he should never be paid what Pearl made. But Pearl has been gone for many years. I am a USI basketball fan and root for the Screaming Eagles regardless of who is the coach. You, it is very obvious, have deep-seated issues with Watson and anyone who objectively presents what he inherited from the Herdes scandal. Herdes killed the program from being a national power with his lack of oversight.

Let's say Hot Wod came into the role with some restrictions in place, which I won't dispute. But that has not meant he has not had the liberty to take "at risk" players, in fact he has brought in quite a few. And there is nothing wrong in doing so. But a coach like any other profession should be judged by success in their position.

I will take it a step further and say success plus effort in moving the program forward. This is where I have had my issue. There is NO excuse one can give to justify not being an NCAA tourney team. There is NO excuse to lose to programs like Maryville. There is NO excuse playing second fiddle to some of the programs having more success than we have had in the past few years.

This is a critical year in my opinion. We have 3 really good players returning this year. The league is not going to have a dominant team this year. If we don't win and win big...the time for excuses should come to and end.
