This is a great map. One thing I noticed.. SW Baptist is actually in Bolivar, MO (north of Springfield), while it's listed in south central Missouri currently.

I think about the four schools I would like to add, on a regular basis. But one thing I keep coming back to is that southwestern corner of the conference and future "divisions" in the conference. Even if all four of your conference adds where smack dab in the middle of TNU and KWC, you still only have 6 schools down there. Then you think about how you split the divisions... Some group of schools, from the "northern" part of the conference, is going to get paired with those 6 southern schools. That will create a financial disadvantage, to the division that includes the southern schools, in the form of higher travel costs. The two fair ways to go about it would be 1. don't do divisions. 2. split the 6 southern schools in groups of 3 and put each group in a different division. But, splitting them up defeats the purpose of adding them in the first place!

Now you can see who really sits in your desired footprint...the strange thing is that USI/KWC/Oakland City/Brescia all sit in the middle of an unusual void. It's tough to really place them logically with other schools.
Your map does highlight a noticeable "donut" around the Evansville/Owensboro cluster and another around the Nashville cluster. Its probably no coincidence that the schools in those areas are the ones the G-MAC is having the most trouble building bridges to.

Edit: And if I'm the G-MAC, I'm very willing to add schools on the near edge of those donuts (schools like UIndy, Marian, Bellarmine, Georgetown for KWC; and LW, Campbellsville for TNU). Probably hesitant to consider a school that isn't on that closer edge. So, you can see that that greatly limits the pool of possibilities.

if you did a map of D1 schools in a 100, 200, and 300 mile radius of Evansville you would realize the insanity of USI staying D2 or GLVC longterm. Evansville Theatre Academy will be d3 or NAIA before long. greenbacks are hemorrhaging.

200 miles radius D1- Evansville Theatre, SIU-HoTWod, SIUe, Indiana st, Eastern illinois, Indiana, Illinois St, UofIL, Louisville, Butler, IUPUI, UK, Ball St, NKU, Xaiver, Cincy, SEMO, SLU, Arkansas St, Ut-Martin, Murray, Western Ky, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead, Austin Peay, Vanderbilt, MTSU, Lipscomb, Tenn Tech, Belmont, Tenn St,
vs. D2 - KWC, UIS, Uindy, Bellarmine, Ky state, Travecca, Maryville, Mckendree, UMSL, Lindenwood (st joe- Out of business)

    31 to 10

landscape has changed alot just since mid 90's
Siue, NKU, IUPUI, SEMO, UT-Martin were D2 David Lipscomb and Belmont were NAIA and St Joe was alive

    Or...

Taylor, Marian, Campbellsville and Lindsey Wilson.

I could do this all day.

    NO USI

NAIA from Ky. Ind. Tenn. It just cost too much to leave a conference and I do not trust NCAA schools.

I think only add 4 (5 if one is a woman's college). Backfill later if needed.

A home run for me would be UIndy, Bellarmine, Georgetown, and one more in WV (Wesleyan, Jesuit or Charleston?)

I don't think either Lindsey Wilson or University of Cumberlands are in the conversation. I do think that Cumberland U and Georgetown would like another shot at it. As for taking five? I would say it depends on the circumstances. With OVU dangerously low in enrollment, I would probably vote yes. USI? Hell NO. They are not small, private or faith based. Total opposite of the conference makeup. Plus they don't have football.

Ok. This brings me to this question. Let's say Lindsay Wilson and College of the Cumberlands are granted D2 status.Tiffin makes the jump to GMAC. With St. Joe closing UINDY and Bellermine decide to leave and start looking at GMAC. That's five, do we take them all? Are the WV schools good with that or do you want some closer WV schools? What about Southern Indiana? In the grand scheme, they would be more than twice as big as all the schools and do not really fit the current picture of the league but have a great basketball program.

So Ohio Valley is that very small school that has been mentioned here? Adding more Ohio schools other than Tiffin makes me wonder what there wouldn't just be an all Ohio conference started up eventually or am I missing something? Frankly, I don't think it would be all that.

I am so happy I doing this site! I am gaining a lot of perspective and quite honestly, this is like a male soap opera!!!

I would love for both UINDY and Bellarmine to go GMAC but just do not see UINDY going. Our coach mentioned that the conference was looking hard in Indiana but wouldn't say what schools. I assumed UINDY but now believe it may be IWU.

I could very easily want more OHIO school but, to be honest, that is not good for this league at this time. Especially if the GLVC is wanting to expand and replace poor St Joe. That being said I think Tiffin is in the league next year.

If the NCAA shuts down the NAIA bids from the Kentucky schools then I am afraid we lose KWC ( sorry for the earlier mixup) and TN.

I see the GLVC as more of a basketball conference correct? UINDY, although very good in basketball also has a damn good football program and well football rules the conference....plus they have a top ranked swim program!

What would be the best southern schools to accept into the conference?
