Just a hunch -- nothing scientific -- but I think the Knights will host the regional they can win the GLVC tourney, regardless of what Ferris Bueller does.

I think Ferris hosts if they win the GLIAC. The committee has traditionally been reluctant to jump one team over another if the two teams being compared have similar conference tourney performances.

Yeah, you're probably right; I only had that hunch today and previously didn't think Bellarmine had much of a shot at hosting.
Eric actually travelled to Edwardsville and was with us for the championship game.
Eric really does "get" the Bellarmine thing and the team mentality. Not only talented basketball players but as fine a group of young men as you'll meet.
The current goal is to be the first Bellarmine team to win a regional on the road. It will be tough. Bellarmine has been in two regional finals on the road, losing to Findlay ('08-'09)and Drury ('12-'13), both of whom went on to win the National Championship.
Bellarmine's chances will get better if we can get back to full strength. It does not seem possible, however, that CC will be able to be a significant contributor in the regional, even if he is able to dress and play. I'm guessing that Eberhard will not be practicing at all this week. The depth of the team has been fantastic and very much needed. It's easy to forget that 3 guys who were starters have been out for significant periods of time. It's especially amazing how well the team has played defensively with Tyler Jenkins, the best ball defender on the team, out for the season. The one-two defensive punch of Coles and Chitty has been a huge factor in the success of the team.
We probably should not complain about playing Truman again. I think Truman has a nice team, but they simply do not match up well against Bellarmine . It will be interesting to see if they try to change strategy on Saturday. In the GLVC championship game, Truman made no attempt to challenge BU inside. It really seems like they need to get the ball inside and get some shots up, and also kick it out for the three. Bellarmine dominated the boards mostly because Truman made no attempt to get offensive rebounds because they were simply not in position to challenge on the boards.

Brings up an interesting question. How many number one Midwest Regional seeds have NOT won the regional? Did KWC lose one in 2010? It seems like a rare occurance.
I don't remember the exact year...maybe 2010...KWC was the 1 seed and lost to St. Joe's in the opening round. SJC went on to win the regional over Bellarmine and went to the Elite 8 as the 8 seed.

BU lost to Quincy that year, who lost to St Joe in triple OT in the regional final. Parkside did not win the regional it hosted just a couple of years ago.

That's right. I knew SJC upset 3 different teams but was thinking one was BU. Either way that was a crazy regional

It sure was crazy. KWC losing in the first round to "SJC was the craziest but then it was followed by BU losing to Quincy in 2nd round only two weeks after BU had beaten them by 20 points. That BU team was pretty much the same team that won the National Championship a year later and final Four the year after that (Hobbs, Kendle, et al.)
I do think this is a year that the No.1 seed could easily not win it, although I don't think it would be as big of an upset as in 2010. Ferris, BU and Findlay are all top 10 teams in the country. Any of the three are capable of winning the regional and then winning the whole enchilada. It will be one of those 3 winning the regional. I give a slight edge to Ferris because of the home court advantage but it may be the slightest advantage that we have seen in several years. Findlay already showed earlier in the year that they are capable of beating Ferris there, losing on a one possession game. BU has shown in this last stretch that they can play the same superior game on the road as they do at home. LSSU would be the only other team I would say has much chance at all (since they did beat Ferris this year) although I don't think their chances are much since they would probably have to beat either BU or Findlay after beating Ferris. I don't see the other teams playing all that well at the end of the year except Dominican. They would have to pull an even bigger upset than SJC did in 2010 to pull it off.
Btw, if Ferris, BU or Findlay win the regional they really should be the No. 1 seed in the Elite 8, just for getting through the toughest regional of them all. (ok, I know Lincoln would have a pretty good argument but they basically only have Queens to deal with in their regional.)(Time for the Central boys to chime in on that one :) )
Went to the taping of the Scotty show tonight. The entire team was there. Adam did practice today. Also, CC told our group privately that he thinks he will play this weekend after practicing today.
