Any of you who frequent /r/CFB are no doubt familiar with College Football Imperialism. At the start of the season, each county in the United States is assigned to the football team closest to it. As the season progresses, whenever a team loses, all the land that team holds is transferred to the team who beat them.
In this Division II edition, each of the 167 teams starts with at least one county. The starting empires range from Livingstone's single county to Simon Fraser's entirety of Alaska plus five counties in Washington. By the end of the season, ownership will be in fewer hands; the champion is guaranteed to have a significant portion, but it's entirely possible for land to end up with non-playoff teams. I am electing to limit this to D2 teams, so if someone loses to a non-D2 team, they retain their land.
The starting map can be seen here: https://i.imgur.com/rPRY7AJ.jpg. (It's too large to display on here.) This map does not reflect any of the games that have been played so far. I hope to update this weekly as the season progresses.
EDIT: At OBULurker's suggestion, I will link each new map on this post.
CIAA is now consolidated with Bowie State. SAC and NE10 set to consolidate this weekend.
That little bit of New Mexico will probably stay in CWU's color, as they're most likely going to be favored in all their remaining games and won't be in the playoffs.
Harding now has Ouachita completely surrounded. I have a feeling that will change when OBU takes back the land we took from Henderson State in two more weeks.
I doubt we'll see a unified map this year as it is very likely CWU will not lose their territory this weekend and it looks like no GNAC team will make the playoffs. How many other schools have territory that will likely not make the playoffs along with CWU's?

The land owned by SIAC and NE10 teams can't end up with playoff teams, even if teams from those conferences get in.

I'm not really understanding how this works. I know that MSU-Mankato took over USF's territory, but since they also beat Augie, Wayne State and Winona, why does Augie still hold that territory?

Did Augie beat Wayne State after MSU had already beaten them?

I think it's because the program sets a limit on how many counties you may own. And Mavericks have far exceeded their limit ... ; )
