Watched it and never thought it was anythin' other than humorous entertainment. Your link reminded me of, "You'll wonder where the yellow went when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent."

Remember Buckwheat with the Little Rascals? Did you ever think of him as being anything other than a beloved friend of those little kids? They were pals. Color didn't make a difference to them. I was never afraid of Amos & Andy. They were funny and seemed friendly and likable. Never dreamed of them doing drugs or pulling a switchblade on anyone- just seemed like nice guys who you would like to meet.

        • Story on why Old Dominion dropped wrestling. They have too much invested in football and basketball to touch them.

What are the take aways here? P 5 conferences generate obscene amounts of money? Not all P5 conferences are equal? At both the P5 and G5 levels There are fairly substantial within conference differences in addition to differences between conferences? Budgets at upper tier FCS schools rival the revenue at lower tier G5 programs?

                  Comment

                  • Evidently there are only 12 schools in the Power 5 whose logos don't use letters. I'll take his word for it- just wondering how many of the Group of 5 don't use letters either.

                    • I don't know how you determine this.

Most of these are immediately recognizable to me. One that would gave been immediately recognizable to me a few years ago gave me some pause because they update their logo several years ago. A couple are too similar to other schools with the same mascot and similar logos.

The Arizona Sun Devil and fork, the Mizzou Tiger used to be an M, and the Oregon State Beaver has changed. I like having a brand. Changing for the sake of improvement is good. Change for the sake of change and to sell new merchandise is bad. I think of BYU having that distinctive royal blue and changing it to navy- that was a bad look.

I suppose you look at average recruiting rank for the past several years compared to their final season rank?

                              • I love to look at the evolution of logos over time. When I look at the ones from the 1960s you see the cartoonish nature of some of them.

Sometimes it takes me awhile to appreciate the change. Other times, it just continues to suck. Like the new LA Rams uniforms. Or the Atlanta ATL ones.
