It's a long shot, but a win over West Florida nest week, would give the Blazers the GSC championship. Are there any other teams with 4 losses, with a shot to make the PO? Has a four loss team ever made the PO?

From what I can tell, looks like the last time a 4 loss team made the playoffs was 2016 North Greenville. They played as an independent, and in spite of their record going in, actually managed to make it all the way to the regional final before getting trounced by North Alabama.
Ironically enough, one of their losses was to FCS The Citadel, just like VSU this year, so maybe that's a good sign.

Other 4 loss teams (because I had some free time today)
2015 Newberry (lost opening round to North Alabama)
2009 West Alabama (lost second round to Carson-Newman)
1997 UC Davis (lost in semifinals to New Haven)
1996 UC Davis (lost in semifinals to Carson-Newman)
1995 Portland State (lost in quarterfinals to Texas A&M-Kingsville)
1994 Angelo State (lost opening round to Portland State)
1993 Texas A&M-Kingsville (somehow got in with FIVE losses, lost in semifinals to North Alabama)

Conference Carolinas presently has 7 teams (Football program members) including UNC Pembroke which went undefeated against GSC opponents (Delta State and Valdosta State) this season.Originally posted by 4_tattoos View Post
Title game? How many teams are in that conference. Enought to justify a championship game?

A 7 team conference shouldn't be holding a championship game imo. Football championship games are needed when a conference has over 10 teams (and some big D2 conference still won't do it).Originally posted by Eagle74 View Post

Looks like the 2 most recent examples came from region 2 when they only had about 12 teams at the timeOriginally posted by Finchwidget View PostOther 4 loss teams (because I had some free time today)

Harding Bisons made the POs in 2017 with 3 D2 losses. Then went on to beat Ferris State in the Region 3 championship. They lost to Texas AM - Commerce in the semi-finals, who later won the natty.Originally posted by Eagle74 View PostValdosta State actually has 3 D2 losses and 1 FCS loss to The Citadel.

Forgot the fact, The Citidel is an FCS team, that loss doesn't count against us! I remember I'd put in that kind of effort but we'd have to be having a championship run, Your school must be on a good run :)Originally posted by Finchwidget View PostOther 4 loss teams (because I had some free time today)

Appreciate it, but I just thought your question was interesting & have an interest in this kind of stuff. Bluefield State is doing better than last year, but we just got our brakes beaten off by Elizabeth City to cap off our season, so we still have a long ways to go unfortunatelyOriginally posted by boyblue View Post
