Another week, another series of hoops for AB to jump through to stay viable. This week they have to make the utilites payment on Monday, and survive a national accreditation meeting on Tuesday. Local leaders and politicans are also meeting with AB this week

You were spot on. AB can has had the authorization revoked, and will only bring back graduating seniors this fall. No sports. No New students. They can appeal however.

I read a report on the meeting. AB fought closing to the very end, even after being told to think about its students.

Feel terrible for the kids. They refused to put the students first.

Right, and even if they stayed open, how were they supposed to rationalize sending their football teams out when they could barely keep the lights on? Sad for the students and alumni at AB, and sad for the city of Philippi, which doesn't have much outside of the college.

AB was still signing athletes over the weekend and even this morning.

They should have never hired those Creehan brothers. There was slight debt prior to those two which is normal. But they were given the keys to borrow way over the limits and at a high rate of interest. Then the non payment of bills started then and ole Rick bailed in the middle of a school year.

Laker, isn't that DOAg loan similar to what ultimately killed Iowa Wesleyan this year?

I believe it, Coaches and staff were probably kept in the dark so that they would keep recruiting.

I'll be honest with you. The way AB's reps behaved during that meeting, it was like they couldn't believe that AB would actually be shut down. It was like they were shocked that this actually could happen.

Agree 100 percent. Never owned up to any issue, found everyone to blame but the school administration. You know, the ones actually responsible for this mess, even though they inherited it from previous administrators.

They launched a new athletic logo on July 22.
