Shepherd basketball is a sleeping giant... granted they've been asleep forever and can't seem to wake up. They have the funding and are in a recruiting area where bball players are EVERYWHERE! IMO our mens bball program has been the biggest disappointment as a sports program since forever. Their truly is no excuse as to why they shouldn't compete for region titles with the facilities and recruiting area.

Maybe time to replace the HC.

Glad we got the eleventh game!

They got embarrassed today in the MEC Tournament by Fairmont State. It looked like they just quit on the coach after halftime.

It's truly an embarrassment, from my recollection they are fully funded as a bball program and in a very fertile ground of recruiting. Underachieved forever. Makes no sense other than they aren't getting it done.

I would have said baseball would have been a solid addition too up until about 5-6 years ago. Don't know much about the reasons but know a couple of their better coaches moved on or up.

Baseball team has been very good the last 5 years. They will be a very good addition to the PSAC.

              2018 - 38-17
              2017- 33-24
              2016- 39-15
              2015- 39-12
              2014- 39-14

Pretty sure there was some playoff appearances in those years, and we won at least a couple conference tournaments. It's been a good run with McCarthy as the coach.

The OD game is still not showing on the Shep 2019 football schedule and has not been mentioned at all on the football website. Has anything officially been announced by Shepherd Athletics?

I saw it reported via Shepherd Football Twitter page:

PSAC is a quality DII conf. They produce good quality teams across the athletic spectrum that are worthy of competing at the National level. Are they the best conf in SR1/Atlantic? I'd say they are equal with the best. Are they as good as their fans think? Not by a long shot!!

Shepherd's website isn't updated regularly. They still haven't announced the recruiting class that we've been tracking via twitter either.

Unfortunately, we are underfunded by the state, and understaffed in the athletic dept, that's why we have no up to date information

I look forward to Shepherd's baseball team being in the PSAC. I have seen them a couple times in regional tourneys. They enter a division that is on a major upswing. WCU and Millersville are nationally ranked just about every year, Shippensburg is always solid and another team or two usually has a really good season (Bloomsburg last year; they single-handily kept us out of regionals, Lock Haven in 2017). The PSAC as a whole is a really good baseball conference. It's just too bad that 90 percent of the league games are played in awful weather.

Definitely looking for us to get back to the PSAC tournament this year; I remember us losing to Shepherd fairly deep into the regional tournament of 2016. Should make for some great conference battles.

Not to mention WCU's two national titles (2012 and 2017).
