I see a lot of online chatter among Bears fans worried about his arm strength. I certainly saw him successfully throw the ball downfield multiple times when he was at Shepherd. We'll have to see if that translates to the pros. I think the short passes against the Raiders were part of the general game plan. They had a rookie QB making his first start and it made sense to keep it simple. It helped that the Bears' running game was basically kicking the Raiders' butt Sunday, which made a conservative low-risk passing game a good option.

Good coaching makes game plans to the strength of the player. Bears did that well last week and TB executed flawlessly. Look for the Bears to open it up a little more this week. TB arm strength will be tested as the pro DB's have a lot more closing speed than D2. TB must have shown that he has the ability in preseason and practice. I hope the O line holds up. I wish him the best.

I saw a cool NFL Network feature on Bagent’s dad who apparently is an arm wrestling champion. It was really funny and cool to see.

I always thought Bagent threw a softer long ball, but he can certainly adjust in the NFL. Let's give the guy more than one game before we close the book on him. They may not have asked him to throw a long pass on Sunday.

The arm strength thing is dumb. I get that he isn't Marino or Mike Vick back there throwing 90 mph fastballs to the numbers, but the guy can spin it for sure. I've seen people commenting about how he probably couldn't throw the ball to the end zone on that play before the half... wish I could link that Kutztown hail mary for them all to see.

Bagent's dad is a legend in that fringe world. His appearance at the Senior Bowl broadcast is also legendary and worth a watch:

Most people think the division classifications are based on talent for players, win/loss for teams, and coaching skill for coaches. We know different because our star players are almost always the overlooked diamonds in the small rural high schools where the kid didn't get exposure or the family couldn't afford to send him to a million junior days and summer recruiting camps.

I'm not aware that anyone has closed the book on Bagent. Comments have been overwhelmingly favorable after Sunday. You have to understand that Bears fans have endured years of subpar quarterback play. They're going to be very slow to anoint anyone the next savior of the team.

One of the other things that hasn't been mentioned for the Bagent family... Tyson threw his first NFL touchdown pass this weekend, and the day prior against West Chester younger brother Ezra threw his first collegiate passes for the Rams as well.

Yeah, I saw one guy online who said Bagent probably couldn't throw it over 30 yards. I informed him that probably any starting QB in the PSAC could throw a ball a good deal farther than that, and that I had seen Bagent throw a winning TD pass against Kutztown that traveled at least 45 yards in the air and that he was rolling to his right while doing it. Hell, I was a halfway decent sandlot QB when I was college age, and I'm pretty sure I could have thrown a ball more than 30 yards. (Probably couldn't throw it 10 now).

There's a difference between throwing a ball 30 yards and throwing a ball 30 yards at nfl speed.

Not saying Bagent can't do it. He probably can. I'm just saying there's a difference.

I mean, he threw a perfect pass over the middle for 25 yards to DJ Moore against Minnesota. But it's like them taking him out on that Hail Mary attempt have left some thinking his arm is weak. I am not sure that Peterman would've made it to the end zone either.

Yeah. Like I said, I'm sure he could do it. My comment was just in general. NFL throws have to get there fast.

Oh, I get you. Bagent doesn't have Marino's arm. But I do think he has an NFL arm. If nothing else, he made himself some money on Sunday because being a game manager in the NFL really means a lot financially. I once heard Chase Daniel say that he's a Hall of Famers at his local bank.
