They were 7-4 this year. Did they gain scholarships within the year?

      And he beat Tort twice.

He did that with pennies to Tort's dollars.

No, and some key players transferred out before Matt Scott arrived. But 5 of the 8 losses last year were by 5 points or less.

Also worth pointing out that when Tepper was there they were at 18 and when Trevor Harris was the QB they were still at roughly 16.

This is the latest chart I've seen and it would have included the 2021 season. Unsure of where things are now.

I just don’t see how a premier D-II football program like IUP can hire a guy like Nulph—14-28 record. He’s out of coaching and, as you stated, is currently a high school athletic director. At the end of the day, your record is your résumé.

I agree. I don't think his resume would hold up to the rest of the field.

              • Would be something to watch both Tort and Franklin manage the clock together

I think there is a large number of candidates better than Nulph. A lot of names on the east coast would going for the IUP Job.

I'm pretty sure that's a direct quote. So, you never know. Remember, when Franklin came into Penn State he hired Jim Haslett as a "Special Consultant." I think there is probably a connection there.
I remember hearing that Franklins wife a couple years ago was in town. Maybe Tort’s wife and her are friends. If this happens I don’t know what direction IUP goes in.

Does Franklin have pool clock management skills?

The pinch they'd be in (if any of this was actually true) would be the union hiring process. That's why I think they'd stay internal for a year or two.

The job will attract candidates from across the country. Given Nulph’s 14–28 record and his current role as a high school athletic director, he has virtually no chance of being named IUP’s next head coach.

                            Take a closer look.

Nulph has some real big (important) fans in Indiana.

He also inherited a total dumpster when he got to Edinboro.

                            He beat IUP twice.

I don't post for the sake of posting. Trust me that he'll be a very serious candidate.

He took the AD job because it's 90 minutes closer to home (and paid a lot more). He grew up 25 minutes from Miller Stadium and is a former assistant at IUP. He's very well liked by the important brass (the ones who actually make the decisons).

Not saying he'd get it ... but he'll be a finalist.

                            • For the record I don't think Tort is even leaving so this is all likely talk for the sake of talk.

                              • Nulph is a great coach. His teams were always more prepared for the game than their opponent. Parents loved him. Leaves a great impression on just about everyone. Just know that he's not moving to Indiana. He's also very close with the RMU AD, his alma mater. Have to wonder if that's enough to get him to move out of the Kiski valley.

In the current set of rules, I think it's very difficult for a an underresourced program to build anything without a large influx of money. There's a glass ceiling for athletic fundraising at Edinboro because of wrestling and the extra attention to Title IX following the lawsuit several years ago. Plus any diamonds you mine on the recruiting trail are now gone the second you do well. Nulph was able to hit his ceiling while the school around him sunk into the abyss of Penn West.
