How is the disparity in high school any different than what we face in D2. This after our ladies have to play a school that is basically D1 in D2 clothing. They have over double the enrollment and probably double the athletic spending and I think they can use taxpayer money to fund their scholarships.

In that case, why bother having classifications at all? Just have a single tournament for every sport. The smaller high schools just need to "get better" if they want to win...Originally posted by jrshooter View Post
That is exactly what I'm saying, and I don't think we're ever going to agree on this issue ...

Reading has about 4,000 kids, and they're not usually all that great in football. My local high school has been pushed up (barely) into 6A because there are hordes of tiny private schools at the 1A and 2A levels that push the publics up as they like to have a relatively equal number of each classification. Take a look at the 1A playoffs this year and see how many publics were in it. We had a good basketball team locally a couple of years back and probably would have made some noise in 5A, but because we were now in 6A land by about 20 students we ended up playing REading in the second game of district playoffs. They ended up being 6A state champs that year.Originally posted by IUPNation View Post
Harrisburg is also a populated area that has more kids in its footprint. Reading High doesn’t get pushed around either.
It’s not like these privates are unbeatable . The smaller ones just should be in higher classifications.
Again..my Catholic High school got mauled every year by Norristown High in foosball. Their coach at the time recruited the best kids in the CYO foosball league for the parishes to steer them away from Kenrick to Norristown. It’s why I don’t want to hear the crying…

It’s why I say enrollment numbers shouldn’t be what classifies schools for any level.Originally posted by Ship69 View Post
