Even so, they're still coming out ahead with the change since they were paying around 900k a year to adhere to the DEI policies. From what I understand, with the new changes (including Manny Diaz Jr) they're now in the black by around 725k per year for their budget.

Lol. Did Newsmax tell you that? He’s a politically-motivated appointee who is not even qualified to be the president of any college or university.

I wish I could more than double my salary and have none of it tied to performance in a job I don't know how to do. Easy money. Pays to be a part of the corruption.

Martha has degrees in French and Journalism which I'm sure made her ultra qualified for leading a university with a liberal spin.
Being a public state supported school, having a president very well connected with the state's popular leadership is priceless these days. Watch UWF thrive and grow now. Well done!

Or just political cronyism. He's not qualified. And the DeSantis "popular leadership" is waning since he and his wife were caught funneling $10M Medicaid dollars to her charity.

She was highly qualified, having the required educational background and career background after serving as provost at Wisconsin-Whitewater and president of Southern Miss prior to leading UWF.

During her tenure at USM, a research university with six teaching/research campuses, the university enjoyed record enrollment, all-time high fundraising and increased national recognition. She oversaw $250 million in building projects in five years.

Manny Diaz is a culture-war political hack with a lack of experience to do the job.

From 2013 to 2022, Díaz worked for Doral College, a private college affiliated with the for-profit Academica charter school operator founded by Fernando Zulueta. For most of this time, he was its chief operating officer. Doral College was unable to receive accreditation by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; eventually it received accreditation from a minor accreditor.
A $67 million Medicaid settlement deal at the center of a criminal investigation reaching the top levels of the DeSantis Administration was struck without any oversight from the state’s Chief Financial Officer, in contravention of traditional practice and possibly of Florida law.The Florida statute that governs money owed to the state requires the CFO to audit the “accounts of all the officers of the state” in regard to transactions like last year’s controversial settlement with Medicaid contractor Centene Corp. that saw $10 million in public proceeds funneled through the Casey DeSantis-affiliated Hope Florida Foundation to attack a referendum staunchly opposed by her husband, Gov. Ron DeSantis, to legalize cannabis.

Hope Florida is a great program which has lifted thousands off of dependence of public assistance. Other states (red or blue) should implement this very successful program. Glad to see that the politically induced dark cloud has cleared, and people are getting the needed help to better themselves.

They stole $10M in taxpayer dollars and used it to fight a citizen-led ballot initiative. A shady group that will likely cause her to lose the primary to Trump-endorsed Donalds next year. Then, Florida will be rid of the DeSantis regime.

Every authoritarian move DeSantis makes in higher education weakens those schools. Sadly, it will likely end up hurting UWF football and athletics programs until real leadership is hired again when DeSantis is out after next year.

Seems like Manny was the DEI hire…

                  ”Didn’t Earn It”

It’s sad how the GSC has withered away..all those programs moved up and largely haven’t been heard from again. People wonder why Grand Valley stays put and this is why..

With the money now needed in college athletics going forward..I won’t he shocked if some former schools move back down,

It’s possible, but I doubt it. I think some schools might actually drop to D3 (like Saint Francis) before D2. College sports have just gotten too expensive (even in D2 especially when in a conference with scheduling issues) and are the tail wagging the dog.

The GSC wishes it had the Pee Sack’s problem..15 schools and need a 16th to balance the schedules…and we may be adding a former JUCO trying to be a real school. Beggars aren’t being choosy these days.

The close geography of PSAC schools is an envy of many schools at every level.

And yet they don't play a full round robin in any sport, even ones where the season is long enough.
