Yes, UWF is in a great location, but there’s a lot more that goes into building a championship program than simply being near the beach. Look at Ferris State or Harding—neither has a beach or a prime location, yet both consistently compete at the highest level.
The reality is:
- UWF has below-average D2 facilities.
- The school has higher academic standards than many other D2 programs.
- Scholarships are capped the same as everyone else.
So, there’s no reason to panic or overreact to a sloppy 21-point win over a “weak” opponent. It was an ugly game, sure, but UWF is still a very good football team that will continue competing at a high level.
As much as it bothers you, weather the helmet says UWF, Argos, or “SEC Country Pensacola Beach,” this program will contend.
