  • 2026 GSC Schedule

If you take last year’s GSC line up with known games so far for this year, the Argos last half of their 2026 schedule will be brutal.

They host a bowl team in week 6 that gave them a real game last year in NE State. They would open the GSC with West Ala. at home in week 7 before playing an unknown OOC in week 8.

Week 9 sees them hosting Delta St. before hosting playoff team North Greenville in week 10. They finish the season on the road at Valdosta. The only good thing about this lineup is being at home and the potential for a huge boost in schedule difficulty metrics if they win.

I am curious if any of the GSC schools will play any of the LSC schools in non conference games.

Here is best guesstimate of 2026 so far using available info and last year’s schedule. Feel free to offer new info and I will update this schedule.

Also UWF announced today that the groundbreaking ceremony for the new football stadium is February 11, 2026. No information on where Argos play this year. The Argos early schedule of away and open games could be a clue that they will be playing at Blue Wahoo stadium this year since the Blue Wahoo Southern League playoffs end the third week of September, which would be week 3 of D2 football. The first home game may not be until week 5 in October.

Looks like a majority of the Conference Carolina teams have scaled back on the number of GSC teams they are scheduling this coming season.

UNA just announced their schedule. I figured that since they're in a 7 team conference this season and have 6 out-of-conference games to find, there might be mutual interest to revive some old GSC matchups, but I guess I thought wrong

What the hay, why not go ahead and schedule some of the GSC teams, same goes for West Georgia. Time to get the band back together for a year or two.

So Northeastern State will be playing at least 3/4 of the GSC.

I attended the Argo stadium groundbreaking ceremony today on the stadium grounds and a large crowd of over a hundred was present to hear remarks of a half dozen speakers, to watch a short video of the history of the program and to watch a dozen people turn some shovels of dirt. This is what I learned about the project and timeline.

                          1. The Argos will play at home during construction and until the stadium is done. Most of the construction is on the home side so fans will sit in temporary bleachers on visitors side and north end zone this year. The entire project is expected to be completed for the start of the 2027 season.

                          2. The Argos will have 6 home games in 2026.

                          3. There will be a larger video scoreboard centered at north end of stadium and it will be installed for the 2026 season.

                          4. The visitors side will have larger metal bleachers from end zone to end zone. Ground sidewalks connect visitors side to home side and boundary fences between the field and stands will be changed and moved. New lighting will also be installed and the weight room in the adjoining south end Gooden Building will be upgraded.

                          5. Home side seating goes from end zone to end zone. Regular seating between the 20's and metal bleachers from the 20's to the end zone with separate entrances.

                          6. There will be a large 4-5 story main building from the 20 to 20 yard lines that has two levels of indoor luxury suites with attached outside seating and a top media level. There are also large meeting rooms inside this building that hold up to 500 for various school, community and rented events.

                          7. There are attached single story buildings on either end of the main building for bathrooms, concessions, gate entrance and locker/office/meeting rooms(?) It looks like a food truck area has been planned at the northern end single story building.

                          8. The home side regular seating looks about as tall as the current home side temporary seating with a walkway between the 20's for movement and a wheelchair area above the regular seating and below the luxury suite seating. It also looks like there is pedestrian access and walkways below the home side seating.

                          9. The final plan is less elaborate than the one posted by school last year, but still a nice upgrade for the school. Number of seats is more and probably in 8-10K range.

The University of West Florida broke ground on February 11, 2026, for the new Darrell Gooden Stadium, a $50 million multi-use, on-campus facility. The project will expand seating capacity from roughly 3,800 to 7,500, with a target opening for the 2027 season. The new stadium will feature premium seating, club areas, and a four-story tower.

I thought so. Some really competitive teams early in the season. I feel like the Valley game is just for ticket sales. It doesn't help us in the playoff race, and think they beat us once over 20 years ago... I know they're Division I, but only in name... I get it, it is a regional game that will hopefully put butts in seats (I know it's @ valley but presumably we'll host the next season), but I wish there was a better D2 game that day to help us down the stretch when playoffs become a conversation.
