What would suck is if they schedule Valdosta and beat all 4 GSC teams but no automatic bid to the playoffs.

It remains to be seen whether the GSC will even have an auto bid. Their waiver was only for one season, due to Mississippi College dropping football on short notice.

So far the 2026 GSC schedules are looking stout for all 4 teams, not many cupcakes and lots of playoff teams and teams on verge of playoffs last year.

It's looking as though Conference Carolina was doing the GSC a favor with helping out with scheduling, but I believe that may come to an end after this coming season. Some away games for CC to play some GSC teams are 750+ miles (1,500+ round trip) and requires over night accommodations + meals. Expense wise, it doesn't work out, especially since they they have other more convenient D2 options.

Maybe in the future, the GSC schools could offer a $$$ guarantee or a 30%+ gate split to help fill their schedules until they figure things out. This could be adjusted based on the CC school's travel distance.

With North Dakota States departure to the Mountain West, they've had to completely rework their schedule for 2026. The Bison were originally supposed to face East Tennessee State on September 5th, but that game had to be dropped due to FBS scheduling requirements they now have to meet.

To replace that game, ETSU announced today that the opponent they'll be facing on that day instead is... Tusculum. Which presumably means they dropped their game against Valdosta State. Unfortunate example of the butterfly effect for the Blazers.

I drove out to the campus yesterday to see if anything was going on with the football stadium construction and it was quiet with no construction workers present. It looks like the media scaffolding on the home side bleachers has been removed and there is new chain link construction area fencing installed on the adjacent practice field. There was no construction equipment present anywhere.

Looking forward to the QB battle in spring practice next month with the two D1 transfers going against the three freshmen returners from last year.

I've heard that UWF's remaining non-conference games will be Week 1 against Erskine and Week 3 against Shorter, both at home

Is Valdosta State going to schedule Lenoir Rhyne and UNC-Pembroke this coming season?

I now see that VSU decided not to play Lenoir Rhyne this year.

LR picked up VSU last year to replace the cancelled game with Limestone. They already had an agreement to play West Alabama and West Florida this year.

West Florida seems to have cancelled their Sept. 26th game against Chowan.

This home/away game against Chowan should be honored.
This is why some Conference Carolina teams are limiting their games against some GSC teams like UWF. If UWF stays D2, moves like this could come back to haunt them in the future.

To me, this cancellation seems to signal they possibly (more than likely) won’t be.
