Honestly, they should do that now.

I wonder if maybe the name Wheatley holds less weight than us older people think. None of the kids he's recruiting have probably ever heard of him. They probably have no idea of his lore in the state or city. So I think that miniature Deion Sanders effect we thought he might have just isn't there.2021 D2Football Fantasy Champion

Got anything more concrete?
He let go of the DC/DL coach that the kids loved (I know for a fact one kid, a 3 year starter, entered because of that) and he promoted another coach whose responsibilities have been subpar to terrible to be kind.
He doesn't promote the talent he has on the team in fear of them of transferring instead of building them up in hopes that they can play at a higher level. I actually had several former WSU players approach me and urge me to have my son transfer and I quote "He owes Wheatley nothing".
His communication is poor to non-existent, he's thin-skinned and cannot take criticism.
I know one kid that just flat out quit and another that is forgoing his last year of eligibility rather than play for Wheatley again (both starters on the OL).
One thing I'll miss is the Warrior House guys and the families that became friends.
Feel free to PM me if you want more.

I think the hope was that the Deion effect would be directed at coaches in the state and to parents. Wayne State does host a massive camp now that I don't remember them having before. But name recognition can only take him so far if his ability and the results aren't there.
