Re: Kansas City - What to do?

Go to Stroud's Oak Ridge Manor at 5410 NE Oak Ridge Dr, Kansas City, MO 64119. If you like fried chicken family style. Way better than that tough yard bird you'd get at Chicken Annie's or Chicken Mary's near that craptown called Pittsburg.....:smile-big:

This sounds good and is only .5 miles from the house we are staying at

Only issue is that it's down in South KC.

You wouldn't know good bier if it jumped up and bit you. The best beer is at the Elks in Honolulu...:smile-big:

That explains why my beer didn't do so well at competition there.

I haven't been to one in decades, but there used to be several good Italian places in the older parts of KC.

                        Grunauer's for German food
                        Garozzo's for Italian

If you're a fan of wings, try The Peanut
I agree.....Light/Power right across from the Sprint Center.

If you like traditional Chinese (aka dim sum) then Bo Lings on 47th and Jefferson is one of the best.

Looks like we are staying close to Roanoke Park, which is close to Midtown Westport(that is where you told me not to go, now you got me worried). 3513 State Line Road. It says it is close to Plaza Westport and PWr & Light Downtown. Appreciate the recommendations, keep them coming along with anything else of note.
Don't let them scare you with the Westport talk. You're completely fine. They've had some skirmishes there, but it's usually around 2 a.m. or so when all the bars are closing.
I'll second the recommendation for Jazz. Great food and atmosphere/music.
Stay away from Stroud's. Most disappointing meal I've ever had and I've tried it three times. All hype.
But that could just be because I grew up eating actual good fried chicken down in God's country.
