I live in the Burg and know a few people around the athletic department. I don’t know if this is what Mule Man is referring to but several people working in the athletic department have left/been asked to leave since MH arrived. One side of the story is he is difficult to work for and the other is some of those people were lazy and he was holding them accountable. I would say the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
I know that Muletrain was renamed the Cardinal and Black fund and after this year there are some pretty significant price increases to maintain the benefits you were receiving at your level. I know MH was hired with the directive to increase revenues. In D2 that ultimately means raising ticket/season ticket prices and advertising prices. That may be what he is referring to as far as sponsors, but I haven’t heard anything about that. I’m willing to give MH the benefit of the doubt. He will be making coaching hire with Kip leaving and he has some much needed facility improvements on the horizon. If he can get the money for those and get them done that will be a huge win. If not I would say we will be looking for a new AD in the next few years.

In the future, please be more sarcastic, a tad bit mean, make sure to hate on NW, and criticize your team at any opportunity. Just some hints so you will fit in better. :) Again, welcome.

I've also heard talk of higher prices for tickets and other activities concerning UCM Athletics. New and/or better facilities are nice, but if you out-price the normal guy, the big money spenders won't see the need to support something that isn't being supported. All this is based on what I've heard from a couple of folks.

I don’t disagree. Trying to run a D2 athletic department like you would a D1 is a mistake. UCM in particular has a large alumni base. I think a better plan would be trying to engage larger numbers of people at a lower price point, but that is more work and in the end may not be successful. We will see if MH overplays his hand and runs off more than he brings in, it’s definitely a balancing act. That said, I was in the camp that the athletic department needed new blood and new ideas. As much good as Jerry did, it felt like he had been coasting for several years.

With changes at the top of the athletic department one knew that some changes would occur. It may not have been that changes were made but how the changes occurred that ruffled some of the donors.
For me, one of the issues is alcohol at games. There was a raised stage on the east end of the Multi and one "HAD" to be a specific donor to go get a drink. Why not sell alcohol to "ALL"? I'm sure it has something to do with the liquor license. MO, it was a waste of time & space as people were rarely there. This is where the pep band used to be along with some portable bleachers. It made it an intimidating end of the court when the team was worth a crap on the court. Heck it wasn't until the last few games that the pep band was even there. Talk about lack of an atmosphere. There always used to be kids at the end of the court from Mo Maniac's to help sweep the floor etc. No longer happening. Kids got into the game free and a drink. Seems that this may have gone by the wayside as well.
Bob Jackson retired. He wore multiple hats and now there are multiple people filling his role. Hmm...with multiple people comes a larger payroll and where did that come from?

ZZ, Lamberson and the Mules offense got a very impressive OL transfer yesterday - former LSU and former 4 star OG Kardell Thomas - who should really bolster UCM's OL for this season. There are still some major question marks about who will step up at WR with the loss of Arkell Smith, Zion Perry, Price Morgan and DeMarcus Gregory but Central is in good hands with second leading WR Jack Pospisil returning as well as talented 6'6 wideout Michael Fitzgerald being back in the mix. Should be fun to see how it all shakes out this year in the MIAA!

Not to mention a few of these D1 transfer WRs, and I think the offense is going to be just fine. Plus a 6'6" TE transfer from SMU.
