I mean, yeah. He had and arm and could sling it, but he had no touch… Maybe if he had a decent QB coach or a guy like McMenamin, with his experiences, mentoring him, things would’ve turned out differently for him. We’ll never know, but most NW fans were pretty excited about Braden after his freshman year, because he could be electric with his legs and you could see the arm potential. It just never manifested. Anyway, sorry to bring up the past.Originally posted by lleachieshusband View Post
But BW had downfield accuracy issues that Owens doesn’t have.
As much disappointment as there was in the way the hiring process played out, I’m glad AD stayed at UCO. That’s not saying anything negative towards AD. This way his legacy can’t be damaged here. We ended up Coach Mac, who’s hungry and excited… players seem to like him and he’s pushing a lot of the right buttons. He has this thing way ahead of the schedule I would have predicted.

A prime example that COACHING is very important and maybe, just maybe, the talent level wasn't as thin as some thought. The Bearcats have the look of a contender and are certainly playing like one.Last edited by CatFan88; 10-18-2025, 06:36 PM.Go Hounds!

HCRW chose to tie his tenure to Sturdy. He was given outs and didn’t take them. Excited to see where HCJM takes this team this year and beyond.Originally posted by CatFan88 View PostA prime example that COACHING is very important and maybe, just maybe, the talent level wasn't as thin as some thought. So far it doesn’t seem like being away from coaching for a few years has been an issue for Johnny Mac.
This team matched RW’s ‘24 win total in 7 games. The new mindset of the
team/locals is such a pleasant surprise.
I’ve solved the issue of lousy student attendance…from this point on the east stands are the visitor’s side and the west stands are the home side. I’ll no longer mention ‘student section’ as it’s their loss if they don’t come out and watch this team.Last edited by NWFanatic; 10-18-2025, 06:34 PM.

Thanks for the shout out! Shirtless Bearcats for life! Nothing like making 5 trips to florence with only one win (semif vs UNA). I remember the "streakers." That was circa 2006 ish....? If I recall correctly, they were members of the track/cross country team. What happened to the Bearcats in Blazers?Originally posted by ZubCat81 View Post
The days of 'Shoulder Pads Guy', 'Green Guy', 'Shirtless Bearcats' and the three NW students streaking across the length of the field at halftime with NW police in hot pursuit are over. Quite a sight. The girl was HOT! They dived under the fence at the north end of field with a get-a-way car waiting. If I remember right, one kid didn't get to the car in time and think he got caught. Crazy Good times.

I get where your feelings are coming from, Fanatic. But, I really feel that players, coaches, cheerleaders, steppers/dance team and the NW band are being cheated with the loss of interest coming with these NW students. Someone is sitting on their hands in the athletic department. More can be done. Easily. No one is appearing to even making an attempt to resolve these vacant seats in the East Grandstand. What "used to be" with those stands being packed is not just puzzling, but it's disturbing. Important for this Bearcat football team to see it get fixed. There is zero excitement over on that side of the field and that was unimaginable years ago.Originally posted by NWFanatic View PostI’ve solved the issue of lousy student attendance…from this point on the east stands are the visitor’s side and the west stands are the home side.
