WT athletics manages excuses and not championships. We have many advantages in D2 yet are mediocre. There has to an underlying story to the situation. Something is holding WT athletics back.

They suck. So does Angelo.

Not sure what happened to WT & Angelo Sports.

Who hired these coaches? Was it McBroom? I have been told he was great at hiring coaches. I will concede he did a great job hiring Michael Mook.

The football coaches he hired are another story.

We WT needs a President that is interested in sports and an athletic director in having winning seasons. WT largest school in LSC and one of oldest.. makes no sense we cannot have a better mens football and BB roster. BB coach is great but needs players. Moving to on campus football stadium was suppose to make football continue greatness.. didnt happen... In the old days WT coachs looked out of state for talent.. lot of colleges in Texas.. maybe look for those hidden gems in the large metro areas.

He hired a lot of very good coaches. Do some digging of the various sports and the successes they've had over the last two decades. It's actually pretty astounding.

I’m not concerned about the past. I’m concerned about now. Why are we suddenly so mediocre with good coaching and facilities? Something is disrupting the success.

Ok what happened to WT men’s basketball? Two years in a row complete mid season collapse. 8-7 in LSC.

No one doubts that Tom and Chris can coach, but I’m beginning to wonder about their recruiting abilities. The Australian Experiment was a colossal failure, and it’s been several years since we landed a Larry Wise. It should be EASY to sell WT at the D2 level. They have excellent facilities, a solid fan base, a tradition going back decades, and are located in one of the largest metro area in D2. Every school has to deal with NIL and the portal, so I find it hard to believe that is the main problem. But what do I know? It’s a different recruiting world now.

I'm concerned about their recruiting, too. They will have to really bring in a couple immediate impact players and retain what they've got.

Makes me wonder if the NIL "pot" would be a lot bigger if WT did make the D1 leap 15 years ago.

WT fans, except for a few, are notoriously cheap or don't have the money to be a big hitter. The "few" that do have stadiums and courts named for them. They don't necessarily see NIL as a "thing" because of their age and experience. The young, up-and-coming WT booster with bucks to spare is not out there.

WT is the only 4-year public university in the panhandle. There's plenty of potential support. The One West capital campaign is closing in on $200 million.
