  • Expected a better performance from the defense. Front 7 played good but the secondary was atrocious.

Offense is still abysmal. I think Hackel is the better option over the transfer. But I’m starting to think it doesn’t matter who the QB is. I think it’s the play calling that’s hurting us the most.

Disagree. Northern doesn’t have too many starters that would start for the top half of the league. Secondary is poorly coached imo.

Maybe the first time ever we agree. Our play calling on offense is so bad. I'm not sure if we have the playmakers to make plays, but they don't get a chance to make a play if they wanted to. An overall embarrassing performance by our Wolves this weekend. Augie is good, and it was two different levels of play out there. I also agree with Debergfan that we looked like not many players would even crack the field as rotational players for Augie.

My basis of continuing on with Schmidt and Co. has been on the fact that we've been able to compete against the upper echelon of the conference for his 3+ years; however, this Saturday's performance against Augie rivaled the early days of the Dosch Era (when he inherited a Crookston-esque team). It sure is starting to look like a team that is losing its belief (in itself, coaches, players, etc). If we come out as flat this week at Dacotah Bank Stadium as we did last week, I think the voices will be getting much louder in Aberdeen to find a new leader of the football program.

Word on the street is those voices are already very loud. Voices that have some power behind them if you catch my drift. Some are saying Schmidt is done after this year but I am not convinced
of that. As much as I don’t agree with it especially if we have another losing season, I thinks he’s got one more year to turn this around.

          • The contingent of Northern fans at the KO on Saturday was by far the lightest crowd I recall in this series. That means they will still likely be the second largest visiting crowd this season but something I noted during a delightful first half.

I just don't see any way Schmidt remains, barring a spectacular turn around and some major upsets this year.

Yes, plenty of NSU grads live in Sioux Falls and did not show up like previous years. Wolves need help at skill positions, particularly a QB who can scramble some and throw accurate. WR who can achieve separation.

The crowd this Saturday will be telling. It's going to be an 80 degree 6PM kickoff under the lights. If its a light tailgate and crowd, I think that will very much signify where the fan base is at with the program.

Many folks in town I've talked to since the Saturday result have been saying to "fire them all". I'm not there yet, but continued blowouts could sway me this season yet.

#6 who came in during the 2nd qtr of the Augie last year at QB and played well is still on the team but they refuse to play him. Won two games at QB last year and set two passing records. Hadn’t played QB since high school.

I saw the AD having a five minute or so conversation with Schmidt after the game. But then I saw Schmidt walking off the field with a smile on his face. So I don’t know what’s going on

JVL played QB last year out of necessity because of injuries. He isn’t the answer, short or long term at QB. What records did he set?

Well I wouldn’t expect a conversation about him being fired on the field after a game.

Turns out TJE must actually be JVL himself.

I'm curious to the records as well. We have an overall problem, not just a QB problem. Hackel doesn't look anywhere near as good as he has/could. I've always thought Max Thompson would get his real shot but that isn't happening either.

Maybe Kollath is the future answer but idk if it's worth throwing them out there or not at this point. I just think it's time to give the kids working the hardest their shot. Measure playing time by heart.
