Nope. With me already having new head coaches in the league that I’d like to interview..and also covering the MIAA and the National show, I really want to go down the road of coordinator interviews.

I did notice that NSU has some videos they make with Coach Schmidt. However, I don’t see them often on Twitter (socials) very often. But with a new coordinator with plenty of history to him, it would seem like a good Wolves interview by their athletic media.

When coaches leave from what appears to be a good spot (CSUP), most of the time there’s some type of stylistic dynamics in play between the head coach and others..or the staff members themselves. Sometimes philosophical differences, etc. There’s also times when a guy has been on staff a length of time and maybe his stay has run its course for all involved. I’m saying this because there’s often a misconception that a guy leaving one place and going to another is strictly based on the performance of his group.

Brayle is going to have a “let’s do this..” approach and I would expect to see the Wolves look to find another weapon or two from the portal yet, in an effort to get the passing game cookin..which is a Brayle thing. Right now, I’m not sure I see the dudes in Aberdeen that BB had with the Thunderwolves in Pueblo. I’m curious to see if there’s a few more ‘right now’ kinda players added. (SMU wideout, etc)

Last year the NSU offense took a while to get productive..and with some of the dudes the Wolves return on D, the focus will surely be on getting the offense on-track much sooner than later.

It seems like there are 3 coaches for offense, 3 for defense, and then the GAs. It does appear other NSIC teams have more coaches listed, but it doesn't always say if they are GA's or full staff. If pay was a driving force for getting Brown from Pueblo that is a good sign, but the staffing is something I've wondered about.
I don’t know this for a fact, but my understanding in Northern Assistants are not paid very well compared to our D2 brethren

Speaking to what I know here in Marshall, we have 6 full-time coaches....3 on each side of the ball. But I think we've done it before where we went down to 5 in order to give one assistant a pay bump. I think that was mainly in the Sauter years, since Cory was so hands-on with the offense and specifically the QBs.

They hired my guy. Schmidt and staff must of got tired of me messaging them for the past three years.😂

Did they have coaching changes or pay maybe? Just curious
Pretty confident it was pay driven.

Good call!!! This seems like a home run hire for the Wolves. It has the potential of being another short term option, but I’m ok with that I suppose. Seems like a very good get for NSU.

When you have someone in-house like they did with Schlichte, it only makes sense to promote from within..especially in D2 circles where getting a perspective coach up to Aberdeen can be tricky..no different than the occasional challenges NSU has recruiting players to small town South Dakota.

The last few departures NSU has seen at OC are the result of a player going back home to an opportunity they didn’t have when they took the job at Northern. Not to mention, both MSU and BSU are further down the road as a program. So, those things are gonna happen.

The new OC is an established playcaller who’s seen success in D2. I will let the school announce their guy in the coming days..and not steal their thunder here. I’ll be interested to see if the Wolves actively seek out targets in the passing game to try and ignite things with their offense.

New OC will be announced very soon. Great hire in my opinion. Finally someone with experience as an OC.
