    Week 1 Chat

    The Thursday games this week would appear to be more interesting than the Saturday games. Augie/Duluth is the game of the week as Augie tries to figure out some defense and Duluth battles to avoid 0-2 after letting the Rock slip away last week. Hopefully Northern can keep The Bank rolling against Winona. I think Minot will cause some headaches for teams this year again so Wayne better be ready to play after the long drive. CSP/Moorhead stills has a lot of unknown with the new era for both squads, but could be another close one.

    Augustana at Minnesota-Duluth
    Wayne State at Minot State
    Concordia-St. Paul at Minnesota State-Moorhead
    Winona State at Northern State

    Games for Saturday, September 5
    Sioux Falls at Jamestown
    Southwest Minnesota State at Bemidji State
    Minnesota State-Mankato at Mary

    Has there been any progress on Mary's building a new stadium? The drawings look great.

      Thursday will be a double screen night for me as the Gophers kick off an hour after the Dragons. I like MSUM's chances but Dragons will have to play well with CSP coming in with some momentum after last week. The two teams have only played seven times in the last 15 years, but several games have come down to the wire.

      Of the seven games played, six have been within 7 points and five have been within 3 points. One Dragons win took a hail mary (that ended up on ESPN SportsCenter), another victory needed CSP missing an extra point in the closing minutes and the most recent game had MSUM scoring with 12 seconds left to take the lead. Always seems to be entertaining.

      Hopefully Huebner balls out again and won't have me sweating bullets this time.

        Great question...I remember hearing about this 5 years ago, but the drawings came out later (I think). That would be a huge addition and upgrade for the Marauders

          Alright beings there is no Chatter on the games..........

          Games for Thursday, September 3
          Augustana at Minnesota-Duluth - Preseason 2 vs 3. Interesting match up. Lots of points last week. Which offense makes the most mistakes. Not expecting much defense here.
          Wayne State at Minot State - Way more interesting game with Minot having a strong performance last week. Not to mention way to many Wayne injuries.
          Concordia-St. Paul at Minnesota State-Moorhead - Moorhead rolling again.
          Winona State at Northern State - I picked WSU to win this one preseason as I was high on them. Not that I am not but I was impressed with the Chadron win. Night game at The Bank is a tough environment. Hopefully it is a good game but Wolves want another blow out and a Top 25 Ranking.......

          Games for Saturday, September 5
          Sioux Falls at Jamestown - Can the Coo get back on track.
          Southwest Minnesota State at Bemidji State - Mustangs win streak was fun while it lasted.
          Minnesota State-Mankato at Mary - Kato all day.

          Will the heat be a factor? Kind of nice that the games are all played on the Northern most site with hopefully a break in temps........ Over it already, its fall ball, need the fall weather!

            I really don't know what to take from the Winona 15-9 loss at St. Thomas. The rest of the Pioneer League did not look good last week. Is the Winona defense good? Is their offense that bad? I expect the Wolves will need to make a few more deep throws in this game to keep the defense from stacking the box. Hopefully Favors gets some good carries this week as well. I expect the NSU defense to be dominant again this week. I don't think the crowd tonight will be quite as big as last week (Thursdays can be tough), but I still expect a good crowd. I'm looking forward to another good game at The Bank.

              Speaking about the heat- have any NSIC game times been changed? Crown moved their game to 10 AM, some others from 6 to 7 PM.

                Looks like there could be scattered to isolated thunderstorms from 5-8 p.m. so may see a rain/lightning delay if it rolls through Moorhead.

                  Based off the Pick em choices the only questionable game is UMD/AUGIE...Most other games it is a wash between the pickers.

                      MSU soccer just moved tomorrow's games from 4 to 10. The other game that was supposed to be played will now also be at 10 AM on Bethany Lutheran's field, which is fairly new.
