Their conference would not be eligible for an automatic berth though.
    I agree on both accounts.

I can see Lindenwood joining the WCHA though. That would make easier scheduling. And maybe some more wins for the Mavs. :smile-big:

Lindenwood to the WCHA would make sense, but that would also drop the CHA below the teams needed for an autobid. So yes, some other dominos would need to fall into place in order for all of this to happen.

They have put together a pretty competitive team, so I don't think they would be a pushover for teams in the league other than Wisconsin and Minnesota.

I can't really argue with the results. I think Bowling Green probably returns the most, but they always seem to find a way to let it slip away.

              Re: 2018-19 WCHA Hockey

Here are the results from the fan poll over on USCHO:

66 people read the WCHA thread. Nice! That's 66 more than who reads the Nacho thread.
              o Consensus is pretty clear:
              o Mankato picked to repeat
o 3-way pick-em between BG, Northern, and Tech for 2-4 and home ice in the first round
o Bemidji and Ferris sew up the 5 and 6 spots respectively
o UAH sitting pretty in 7th
o Toss-up between the Lakers and Nanooks for that last playoff spot (fascinating that after 66 entries only 4 points separate these teams)
              o Seawolves in 10th

              Rank Team Score
              1 Minnesota State 119
              2 Bowling Green 170
              3 Northern Michigan 204
              4 Michigan Tech 231
              5 Bemidji State 321
              6 Ferris State 411
              7 Alabama Huntsville 466
              8 Lake Superior 534
              9 Alaska 630
              10 Alaska Anchorage 644

Millsy, you might be the only other person who cares, but the NEWHA wants to become a D1 women's hockey conference. No big deal except four of the teams would be from D2 whose men's teams are not in D1 for hockey.

My question is- can the Northeast-10 men's teams move up from D2 to D1 hockey without moving the rest of their programs up?

The way I understand it is that since the NCAA offers no formal D-II championship, these teams are already eligible for the D-I tournament. They would have to play D-I teams though to get their RPI and PWR recognized and I believe they have to declare intent.

Now granted, if they moved up to a D-I league, then they would have D-I games that would be recognized. I can't remember when the moratorium on play-up went into effect and if it expired or if it is still in effect. If the moratorium has expired, then they could play up in one sport for each gender as long as that sport isn't football or basketball (the big boys don't want their money pie split into more pieces).

As for the women's NCAA tournament, only eight teams make it. If they become a full fledged D-I league, there will be five auto bids and only three at large bids. In a way I kind of like it, the conference title means even more, but also doesn't leave any room for error during the conference tournament.
