Yep, I was hoping for a Clarkson win, but it just didn't happen.

But I did get to see the Hussies lose! That made my night, even if it hurt my bracket (I had Mankato at SCSU in the title with the Mavs winning).

I'm stunned. Second year in a row for SCSU. Reminds me of when Holy Cross beat the Gophers up in Grand Forks.

If MSU wins the national title, the chocolate milk is on me, my friend!

MSU off to a good start in period I against Providence, leading 4-1.

Correction....last goal waved off; score is 3-1 late in period 1.

Goal was disallowed- offside. Still 3-1.

This is worse than last year. Up 3-0 and start taking stupid penalties. At least UMD ended up winning the national title. Providence gets rewarded for being a 4th seed with a home game. MSU can't shake that they haven't won a post season game.

The 5 minute major penalty in the third period was devastating for the Mavs. Very disappointing outcome after leading 3-0.
Regardless, very unfair to allow the 4th seed to have what was essentially a home game for them.

The Cell is now back to being called the Mankato Civic Center.

I wonder how much I'd have to pay to call it the Laker Civic Center?

                  Breakdown By Position (2019-2020 Year):

                  Forward (17): 13 Returning (2 SR, 4 JR, 7 SO), 4 Incoming
                  Defense (9): 5 Returning (1 SR, 2 JR, 2 SO), 4 Incoming
                  Goalies (5): 3 Returning (1 SR, 2 JR), 2 Incoming

I am not sure what type of attrition there will be in the off season. I cannot see them carrying five goalies, and 17 forwards seems a little high as well. It will be interesting to see how the roster shakes out next season. I would think the offense would get better as many of the underclassmen got to see significant minutes. Defense will be young as that is where the Beavers will probably take the biggest hit, experience wise. In goal, both Driscoll and Johnson return, which could again be a good tandem.

For non-conference scheduling, we know the Beavers will be in Grand Forks for two and there will also be the Mariucci Classic in Minneapolis, December 28 and 29, with Minnesota, Mankato and St. Cloud as the other teams. I have not heard anything on the other two opponents.

Bowling Green is looking for a new head coach. Looks like former Brainerd Warrior head coach and current Bowling Green assistant Ty Eigner is the leading candidate.

Three 5 minute majors- three game misconducts- two for UMass, one for DU. Minutemen up 3-1 after two but still have to kill off that penalty.

Personally, I thought that UMass played like a bunch of idiots after Denver took a timeout at the ten minute mark of the SECOND period. Stupid penalty after stupid penalty. The worst offense wasn't called with about two minutes to go. The guy's own mother should have called that shot to the head.

Denver had the momentum in OT, but anything can happen in OT- and it did.

Yeah, I will admit, I didn't pay real close attention to the part of the game I saw, but there seemed to be some "head hunting" going on. Not sure if UMass was trying to establish a physical presence since it is perceived by western teams that eastern teams can be soft? But man, in the National Semifinals to see that many contact to the head calls, and some that were missed as well..... Ugh.
