    Re: 2018 NSIC Volleyball

So, I'm actually curious .. what will it take to fell mighty Concordia in the regional rankings? Lost four of their last five, eight losses overall on the season, and were #1 in the rankings last week. Everyone in that region has to be just throwing their hands in the air.

I'm assuming they will stay #1 and any and all winners in the rest of the NSIC tournament will fall out...glad someone else notices this crap

Still getting used to checking this part of the forum....

Props to my Cougars for slaying CSP (again). First 20-win season ever for USF, and their first ever NSIC tournament win. This program has come a long ways. Will CSP remain at 1? Will USF finally crack the top 8? Looks like no one has any idea

USF is for real this year. Looking at the original rankings, I'd have to imagine nobody was really predicting that.

I think I mentioned it earlier in the thread but USF beat SMSU for the first time in the history of the matchup. It was a sweep I believe.

Happy to see some success down there.

USF beat SMSU in five this year, second time overall; first time they'd beaten Concordia...two weeks ago. How am I just now finding this volleyball thread?

Well this is certainly encouraging for the Coo.... And as Guest69 pointed out, doesn't include the first round of the NSIC tourney... Guess there's no one like Casual Observer to make up mock regional rankings over here. From an outsider's perspective, NSU with their 3 losses does seem criminally low, considering they won the fricken NSIC. But I'm new to all this. USF has been relatively competitive since joining the conference and oh so close for years, and of all VB conferences to try to build up a program, the McCartneys have a done a solid job. Cool to see them making some real noise this year.

I know, regardless, just silly. They reward USF with all those losses but punish SMSU for almost no reason at all with having wins over the countries #1 twice in a row (I think). NSU only has two losses, both to UMD in five games. CSP gets a pass on all their losses. I mean, wouldn't it be something if SMSU isnt even in the regional just because we have to let a GAC team in?

It would be one thing if the NSIC didn't have a proven track record, but they do in a big, big way.

Ahh, yep. You are correct on both accounts. I got the score confused with the Winona sweep earlier in the season. Not sure why I thought it was their only loss, I must have checked the stats page before they updated it.
