Unfortunately it only counts as a tie in the eyes of the NCAA. Non-conference games that go to a shootout don't count as wins, the shootout is just for practice and the fans, basically.

BSU falls at Lake Superior State 4-3 in OT in game one. Beavers were down 3-0 in the first and battled back to force OT.

Bemidji drops game two at Lake State 5-1. Looks like it could be a long year.

Visited Midco Arena in Sioux Falls tonight for the second ever game there.

Really nice arena. I like that despite the size, they took care to have a full bowl instead of just a horseshoe. Held the sound really well.

Ferris topped the Vikings 4-3 in OT.

Congratulations to Alaska Anchorage for their 4-2 win over Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday. The Seawolves only won one game in the Alaska Governor's Cup series with the Nanooks this season, but they weren't swept which is important to me as a fan. This is my favorite series in college hockey. And kudos to UAA for streaming their games on YouTube for free. Cash strapped UAF charges to watch theirs. Go Seawolves!

The Frozen Four is coming up in St. Paul, MN (Excel Energy Center, April 11 & 13). My favorite college hockey team Alaska Anchorage won't be there, but I'll be sure to watch on TV or online. Last year's final Quinnipiac 3 Minnesota 2 (OT) in Tampa, FL was very exciting.

                      CCHA Final Standings:

                      1. Bemidji State 48 Points
                      2. St. Thomas 39 Points
                      3. Michigan Tech 39 Points
                      4. Minnesota State 38 Points
                      5. Northern Michigan 36 Points
                      6. Bowling Green 35 Points
                      7. Lake Superior State 34 Points
                      8. Ferris State 19 Points

Quarterfinal Series, best two of three, March 8, 9, and 10 (if necessary)

                      Ferris State at Bemidji State
Lake Superior State at St. Thomas
                      Bowling Green at Michigan Tech
                      Northern Michigan at Minnesota State

Semifinals, one game, Saturday March 16
at the two highest remaining seeds (teams are reseeded)

Championship, one game, Friday, March 22
                      at highest remaining seed

St. Thomas is ineligible for the NCAA tournament, so if they make the championship, the conference autobid will go to whomever they are playing.

MSU got the sweep in their first round matchup against Northern Michigan.

In the Big10, Wisconsin was upset 2-1 by Ohio State - a series that was immensely pleasing to Maverick fans.

Gonna try to get to as much of the NCAA tournament as I can this year since the regional is in SF and the FF is in St. Paul.
