The Frozen Four is set for St. Paul.... kinda boring seeing all the "Blue Bloods" in there, I don't want anybody to win. LOL!

        Denver vs. Boston University
        Michigan vs. Boston College

I'm with you. I don't like any of the four. I doubt if I'll watch any of the games. And I have no interest in going despite it being local. Oh well.........

I'm pulling for BU. They dumped the Gophers and have a chance to dump the Pios. Might make it to the championship game since the Gophers aren't there.

Sioux Falls Regional was a blast. Such a fun time.

Did a dynasty rankings thing for hockey like I've done for D2 football and basketball. Here's the Top 16 for D1 Hockey since 2003 (tournament expanded to 16) solely based on tournament success.
                1 Boston College Hockey East
                2 Denver NCHC
                3 Minnesota Duluth NCHC
                4 North Dakota NCHC
                5 Minnesota Big Ten
                6 Boston University Hockey East
                7 Michigan Big Ten
                8 Quinnipiac ECAC
                9 Notre Dame Big Ten
                10 Wisconsin Big Ten
                11 Massachusetts Hockey East
                12 Providence Hockey East
                13 Union ECAC
                14 Michigan St. Big Ten
                15 St. Cloud St. NCHC
                16 Yale ECAC

Any idea why the Summit would want to do this? They only have three teams in the NCHC- Denver, North Dakota and Omaha.

You could add UST from the CCHA.

Keeping a close eye on rumblings Summit League will add Ice Hockey as championship sport, and the impact for
                  @TheNCHC if this occurs.

There's been talk about the viability of single sport conferences. My guess is that something to do about it.

If that's the case, is the MAC (Western Michigan, Miami, and Bowling Green) contemplating the same thing?

I found this Reddit post - apparently it's an old(er) rumor.

Rumor of a Rumor: Summit League might sponsor hockey : r/collegehockey (reddit.com)

I *heard* a *rumor* that SDSU was approached with the opportunity to add hockey, but declined. NDSU could probably sustain a program, but won't. That leaves UMKC, Oral Roberts, and USD - and they'll never add.

I would add Lindenwood into the mix as they are an associate member to the Summit League. Then my guess is they would want to structure the conference to be 8-10 teams, so they'd try to snag Augustana and 2-4 more NCHC teams. Curiously, future associate member Delaware is adding NCAA D1 Women's Ice Hockey, whatever that's worth.

Just spitballing - but the Summit seems to be desperate to be taken seriously on a national level, and since their member schools are only achieving notoriety in wrestling and football through other conferences, maybe that's why they want to add hockey? With Denver, UND, and UNO - they'd be instant competitors nationally. They were even tweeting about Denver winning the national championship...

Hey College Hockey fans, come on out to Palm Desert, California (ten miles east of Palm Springs) on Jan. 3 & 4 of 2025 for the NCAA Cactus Cup at Acrisure Arena. The four teams involved are Holy Cross, Omaha, Michigan Tech and UMass Lowell. It's a great arena that holds 11,000 and it's the home of the Coachella Valley Firebirds of the AHL. Warm weather in the winter, bring your golf clubs or tennis racket. 😎

Augustana has been granted full CCHA membership a year early. They will now be eligible for the MacNaughton Cup, Mason Cup and yearly CCHA awards (they are still ineligible for the NCAA tournament). Since all schedules for the 2024-25 season are finalized, CCHA standings will be based on point percentage instead of straight points (Augustana plays 16 CCHA games, everyone else plays 26 CCHA games). The ninth place CCHA team will be left out of the CCHA playoffs.
