    Only secondhand info.
wlu led 120 something to 70 something with about 4 mins left.
Webb hit approx 4 threes, as did Rasile. Woodward and Sarson hit threes.
this is a scrimmage for younger players, for the most part.
    Butler did not play.

I did watch nova se beat Bama huntsville 101-81 and Dallas baptist 95-65. Forced dallas into 31 turnovers. Dallas would have beaten hillsdale but they had abysmal foul shooting.
yoakum starts and played great. Nova deep with great skill and height.
    huntsville beat Lincoln Memorial today.

Nwmsu beat west Texas am without dreamer. Dissected them despite wtam having great athletes.
here is link to all 10 games.

    FYI
    WLU scrimmaged at Ashland tonight.
Several players sat out with some minor injuries: Montague, Cannady, and Hinds. Not sure when they will return. Not unusual for some players to be banged up at this stage of pre season.

Starters: Butler, McKinney, Sarson, West and Rasile.
Ashland has a traditional center, fwd, guard lineup. Couple of ex d1 guys.
    Their pg is true freshman.

WLU forced many turnovers, at least 8 in first 10 mins. Refs were calling a very tight game with ashland shooting many more fouls.

    Score at half was 56-47.
They reset score to zero and played the 2nd half.
WLU cranked up the pressure even more for many turnovers. WLU was rapidly passing for wide open 3s, which they often made. Ashland was getting a step slow from fatigue and WLU dominated the boards.
At the 10 minute mark, WLU led 40-11.

Final for 2nd half was 59-28.

Caution: I would not draw any conclusions on the score. It was valuable for both teams. Ashland will only face traditional styles in their conference.

Final public scrimmage is Sunday nov 6 at 1 pm at ASRC vs d3 Westminister. The younger players will get the vast majority of the minutes.

    Hinds still out with injury.
Was Hinds at the scrimmage? If so, was he in a boot...In a sling...on crutches or running around as if fully recovered from what ever injury he had/has?

I appreciate playing with great energy but was Dante's energy effective? Was he hitting shots...was he distributing to others at a high rate...was he getting steals...was he shutting down his opposite number? Presumably Dante is the second unit point guard so how he is did will have a direct impact on how we do during the season.

    - Findlay had trouble getting ball in bounds. Inbounder was throwing ball off wl defender's leg to avoid 5 sec call. After about the 4th instance, the defender quickly retreated on count of 4, causing inbounder to miss him and resulted in turnover for easy layup. Great countermeasure.
    - 3 guard lineup is murderers' row of pressure. They are in their grill even in half court 35 ft from basket.
    - Butler scored at will inside with brilliant footwork.
    - Sarson playing hard, rebounding and hitting 3s.
    - 3 guards blowing by defenders in half court for layups.
    - approx 51-37 at half.
    - we have a pass first team this year.

    - Findlay has great shooters and stepped up defense in 2nd half, closing gap to 2 pts at 59-57.they got hot, wlu went cold from 3 and was only getting 1 shot. Wlu called timeout as they had only scored 8 pts in 10 mins.
    - wl cranked up pressure forcing many turnovers and scored 45 pts in last 10 mins. The pressure eventually takes its toll.
    - Findlay is a good half court team who won't see this pressure in their conference. I really like their true freshman point guard.

    - 2nd platoon needs more time to jell. Too many new pieces. But they played well when seeded with 1st platoon.
    - Finley is showing flashes as a freshman with high motor. Hinds still out.

    Final wl 104- findlay 75

Caution - just a scrimmage. Don't read too much in final score.

Very valuable experience for both teams.

Will play at ashland sometime next week.

Not a 3 guard line-up, a 4-guard line-up! Going to need to hit a high % of 3's to compensate. Going 10 minutes cold from 3 is a problem...shades of last season when we at times would have extended shooting problems.

How did Spatafora do and was there a Hinds sighting?

So how did the intersquad scrimmage differ from a "traditional" WLU practice. By all accounts, a WLU practice is largely an open gym scrimmage were the coach's let them play and keep notes on who played well and who played less well. Any insight on changes or was it the same old offense and defensive concepts we've become accustom to for the last 20 years? Ben in interviews stated that the WLU offense was a "work in progress." Was this born out in the scrimmage? Who were the five best players regardless of which team they were on? Did any players struggle?

Not 100% sure. If you are an alum, maybe text coach Lamberti to get confirmation and approval.
In past year's scrimmages at Findlay, cal, etc., folks and students were meandering in and out.

i am sure both teams will benefit from playing someone other than their teammates to gauge their progress. The Oilers are supposed to be good this year.

As with most scrimmages, the outcome is not a reliable predictor of a team's success during the season.

First time I have seen Dante play.
I think fans are really going to enjoy watching Dante Spadafora. His motor runs at the red line all the time.
In transition, he races up court at breakneck speed, yet somehow under control, turning it into a 3v3 game. Opponents are confused, concerned he may make a rim run, which leaves guys unguarded for an open 3 and an assist from Dante. What an aggressive, unselfish, point guard.
I was really excited when we picked him up
