    ROUND 1 (Friday)

IUP vs. Bowie State -- PSAC Champion Crimson Hawks enter on a roll ... went 3-0 vs. Bowie State a year ago.

Virginia Union vs Edinboro -- VUU slammed Edinboro, 79-58, back in November. Boro enters having lost 2 of past 3 outings.

Glenville State vs. West Liberty -- Round 4 ... GSC has won all three thus far -- all by double-digits.

California vs. Charleston -- Cal hammered Charleston, 70-53, back in November.

Day 1 may not be real interesting but Day 2 should be a dandy. That said, the favorites first have to take care of business.

I'm curious to where the teams and fans will stay. There is only one motel in Glenville about two miles out of town. Maybe the Conrad Motel is still downtown that would have several rooms but that place is really old. Wondering if teams will go to Flatwoods, Weston, Buckhannon or Clarksburg. The WACO facility is great, but the food and lodging will be scarce.

Maybe in Fairmont? What's that ... about 45 minutes away? Several chain hotels there.

If it was the Mercyhurst men they'd be staying at Snowshoe Mountain in the penthouses.

I've no idea which VULCAN team will show , the one that started the season so optimistically @10-0 or the one that finished so down @ 6-4. Thankfully they didn't have to bus it all the way to Richmond for possibly 1 and done.

There are a few hotels in Bridgeport, which is about an hour north of Glenville. There are a few hotels in Sutton as well. But Charleston is at least a good 90 minutes away from Glenville, so that doesn't seem like a viable option for teams, much less fans. Keep this in mind: I would think that hotel space is a key element to each team's prospective bid for the regional tournament.

Team Hotels. Hotel reservations for the official travel party for the competing teams shall be made by the tournament manager. Hosts should secure 16 double?double non?smoking rooms and one single room for each participating team. These rooms shall be guaranteed and reserved beginning the night before the practice day. The selected hotel properties shall be within no more than 30 miles (30 minutes) of the competition site

That would pretty much put teams in the corridor between Sutton and Weston.

Also, as I recall, Glenville hosted regionals a few years ago (I forget when, but I believe it was relatively recently).

Fairmont is about an hour and 15 minutes away via I-79.

Teams will be staying at the Days Inn Hotel and Conference Center in Flatwoods. That is where they stayed the last time Glenville hosted.

Glenville hosted the Atlantic Regional in 2014, the year that Edinboro beat Bloomsburg in the final to advance to the Elite 8 in Erie.

VUU pulled away in the last 5 minutes of the 2nd, 39-29 over BORO. Still plenty of time to come back.
