Home court advantage starting to come into play. WLU running out of time (and perhaps composure).
Excellent free throw shooting from the Knights. WLU's struggles from the line all year have been one of the differences here. Missed some really key front ends.

Heck of a battle in Erie.
But in truth, this year's version hasn't been a traditionally built Hilltopper Team. More of a gut-it-out version. Pleased they were able to get this far seemingly on sheer will.
And the Golden Knights just showed them what the system is supposed to look like. Gannon out-Hilltoppered the Hilltoppers. Hats off to the Knights. But they should be prepared. Charleston won't be phased by the system (and will have a few days to prepare).
But it's truly remarkable what Fee has been able to do with a portal-built team. Congrats to Gannon.

Good post. I do expect Gannon to win... despite Charleston's familiarity with the system.Originally posted by Scrub View PostHeck of a battle in Erie.

It was interesting both teams basically played half-court the entire second half.Originally posted by Scrub View PostHeck of a battle in Erie.

Although when each is used to the pressure it's pretty ineffective.

I noticed that too. But it shouldn't be overlooked that when WLU went cold over the last 4 minutes, that also seemed to correspond with when Fee dialed up the press again. Almost as though WLU was allowed to get comfortable playing a half-court game for the second half (once both coaches decided that the presses weren't having their desired effect given that both teams practice against it every day) and was, then, surprised a bit when Fee put the press back on. This seemed to cause a minor lack of composure in the WLU squad and forced something of a dry spell. Fee ended up winning the chess match, and the late re-application of the press might have been one of those deciders.Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View Post

IUP's hobbled team almost beat Gannon twice (in fact IUP gave Gannon its two closest wins in the past three months).Originally posted by Topper_Hopper View Post

Charleston is a hell of a lot better than IUP's four-man team was.
I don't what to think about Tuesday. I did take Charleston to win it in the Pick 'Em. Classic speed up vs slow down.
You also can't put too much stock in their first game as Gannon was new and Charleston was without its star.
