  • Re: NSIC women's hoops

Apparently MSU will be at either U Mary or St. Cloud State next Wednesday for the conference tournament. If SW St. wins tonight, and MSU loses, SW has tiebreaker, I believe. And would get the shorter trip to St. Cloud. If both lose, I think MSU gets St. Cloud there. (Not optimistic about winning at Winona tonight without Drost; assuming she is out again today).

Yes, Southwest swept the season series.

Top 2 (maybe 3) teams in the league are in the north, which may have something to do with lesser records at bottom of north division ...as they play those teams twice per year.

Correct. CSP playing well but Moorhead looks good, I was VERY impressed with Duluth and UMary I think is pretty good but streaky.

All that said, Augie would have been top team in the region if things would have worked out.

Honest question....are they really the top teams or do they simply have the best records because they beat up on the bottom-half teams of the North, like in pretty much every other sport?

Mav women defeat Winona St. 59-49, to take 5th in the south division. And get a reasonably short trip Wednesday to St. Cloud, rather than to U Mary. No Drost today; hopefully she can return next week.

Nice honor for Taylor Drost of MSU to make second team. And great having her back for next season. I could see a lot of potential in her already as a freshman, along with Klug (transferred out before the season).

This is the first time SMSU has had two players to earn All-NSIC in a season since the 2005-06 season.

                        Eric Peterson broke the news.

The purge of the NDSU womens basketball program has begun with 2016 ND Miss basketball Sarah Jacobson transfering to Moorhead. She played two years then redshirting last year before being dismissed from the team. No idea if that was due to the turmoil from that program or if something happened. Either way, certainly potentially a nice addition to the Dragons.

The rich get richer. Bison women's hoops used to be the pinnacle of D2, along with UND. Now the power in the Summit has migrated south to SDSU and USD.

May make lady dragons preseason favorites next year in nsic. Now if the men could add a few pieces in the near future to try and climb the nsic ladder next year.

All-State 1st team in ND class A was announced. Incoming Wolf Kennedy Harris of Mandan made the list. Of the five others three are seniors with all three committed to UND.

Hope she is a guard as nsu seemed a bit thin at guard last year.
